• “Miss Ligrata. There is a problem.” He whispered, his eyes wide with fear and she mentally gave an expracted moan, lazily wondering which jerk had paid him to waste her time with nonsensical things.
“What is it?” Her tone betrayed not a hint of her annoyed feelings and the man plunged in further.
“Professor Rowan. He’s desperately ill and need an emergency operation right away.”
Her mask of indifference dropped as she stared at the man openly with shock.
“What? Why couldn’t anyone else treat him?”
“All the best surgeons are engaged and you are the one he said with the most potential. He said you were the only one who could help.” Tears were now beginning to sparkle at the edge of the grey and looking at them, Aurelia made her decision.
    “Lead the way.”
He took her through the alleys, saying it was a shortcut. Unfamiliar with her surroundings, Aurelia could only ignore the nagging feeling in her gut as she weaved through the dark maze.
However, he didn’t take her there. They stopped near a black painted van and she glanced at it, fear suddenly shadowing her sapphire eyes.
“What is going on?” Her voice full of uncertainty and the ugly grin now stretching across the man’s face was the last thing she knew before darkness blinded her.
Looking at the unconscious body of the girl lying at his feet, the man bit back a grin as he hefted the body up and tossed her into the van. The impact wasn’t very big and he shut the doors. Turning, he strode to the front of the van where he pulled a dark, beat up cap from out of his pocket and popped it onto his head. Whistling tunelessly, he jumped into the front seat of the van. A quick turn of keys and the roar of an engine filled the silent air.
He left her in the cell, her unconscious form in the cold walls. She shivered as she remembered how his grey eyes had changed from scared to evil in a minute and felt anger sweep through her, however, the extra burst of anger didn't come. Her powers didn’t react. It was weird. She wondered what he did as her hand maintained its firm grip on the cold crystal of her necklace.
A little while later, she heard the sound of flapping metal and saw that a tray of food had been added to the gloom of the room. Ignoring the indecent pong of the mouldy looking bread they decided would be part of her meal; she focused on the cold metal around her. The sound of a key unlocking caught her attention and her eyes watched as the door shifted, throwing a ray of dirty light over the vast emptiness of the floor. The man who stepped in was unfamiliar to her and she observed as carefully shut the door behind him.
His movements were rather graceful like and it reminded her of the way her master had moved, silent and steady. In the borrowed light from earlier, she noticed his flame red hair which clung to his head like a vice and his seeming preference for clothes the colour of dirt. His voice was a low alto when he spoke and Aurelia tensed herself.
“You’re to follow me.” Aurelia rose to her feet, her eyes narrowing into silts. The man nodded once before he swung around and motioned for her to follow. Rolling her eyes in annoyance, Aurelia complied and watched as he unlocked the heavy door and pushed it aside. Stepping into the brightly lit corridor, she winced as bright light stung blue eyes accustomed to the dark.
As her eyes gradually adjusted, she found herself in a long, winding tunnel that was surprisingly clean. The guard at the door grumbled as he pushed it back into place. Nodding a tight acceptance of his pleasure, the man gestured for Aurelia to continue following him once more.
He led her through the tunnels once more, until they arrived at a door set deep in the metal and he knocked on it heavily. At that, the doors slid apart, revealing a lift. Stepping into it, the duo were transported into the level above. This time, the door didn’t open into a tunnel, but rather a corridor. Doors lined the surprisingly well decorated part of the place at regular intervals and the guy finally stopped in front of the one with a shiny, sunshine coloured plate with the craved word, “Boss” in front of it. Narrowing her eyes sharply, Aurelia waited as he knocked on the door and a call of admition resounded from within.
