• tab It's just me and my older sister, really. Rena's seven years older than me and technically a adult. I've lived with her since mom was diagnosed with cancer. My fathers never been around, he left the night I was born. My mother said he was just scared of having another child, but I know that's not why. He just didn't want another child.
tab Now that mothers in the hospital non-stop, Rena really looks after me. I live in her town house with her dog Jasmin. Every Saturday we go visit our mother, bringing her flowers and get well cards from neighbors and friends. She was diagnosed two and a half years ago, about. Ever since I've gone to Hickory High School and lived an hour away from all my best friends. I made new ones, of course.
tab Mary's the best of all best friends. She's loyal, understanding, kind, helpful, and everything else a friend could want. She has a quiet atmosphere, which is nice when you don't even feel like talking. She understands when I'm sad, and helps me get through it, and she really helps me get through having my mom in the hospital. She tells me everything be all right, but more than that, she makes sure I know everything will. She comforts me as much as needed and most defiantly keeps me going through and through. If it weren't for her, I'd probably be completely depressed right now.
tab Sara's a little bit more on the wild side. She loves to joke around, talk about silly things and talks so fast half the time I can't understand her. She can still understand me, and we both love one thing, the beach. We go there nearly every weekend, me her and Mary.
tab There's one girl, though, who seems so closed up. Mary told me once that she used to be so nice, so open, but one day she just wouldn't talk, not to anybody. Not even the teachers. Sara said she didn't even talk to her mother, or even her father, all she did was sit there, looking so sad. Once, I tried a new approach at talking to her. Most people, I bet, probably ask her whats wrong, but I didn't want to give her any justice. It might make her feel better for somebody to just say hi, like they would anyone. But she just smiled weakly and walked away.
tab I have a short cut to my shoulders. I usually clip my brown hair into a bobby pin, keeping the bangs out of the way. It's just long enough to put up in a pony tail with a ugly stub hanging lose, so I don't do it too often. I have a slender, weak build that doesn't suit me at all and these big, dark brown eyes.
tab I'd much rather have Sara's silky, straight blonde hair that she keeps up in a ponytail. Her deep blue eyes aren't too big, nor too small and her perfect build keeps her one of the prettiest girls in school.
tab Mary's religion requires her to wear dresses or skirts daily, and she claims dresses are much more comfortable. So most of the time shes wearing long dresses and sneakers that are hidden by the skirt of the dress. She has dark black hair she claims has never been cut but once when she had gum in it. It's far down her back and almost to the back of her knees. Her eyes are an even darker brown than mine, but she has smaller eyes that fit her perfectly.
tab There's so much going on, I can barely focus on studying and passing high school. My mothers in the hospital, the mysterious Matilda and now, to add on, I'm starting to wonder unwillingly: where could my real father be?
