    CHAPTER 1

    Figures and Shapes
    Part 1

"There's the sun. Why does it look so blue?" Said Nia. She walks down the concrete road to the end of the stop sign where the bus picks her and Deen up every morning. There's a wide field ahead of her about 2 Acers big across the road and after the field are trees in almost a side ways L is the way they aline. A man owns this land. Its big enough for a K mart to be built on but instead he uses it for making food for his live stock. Nia lives in the small country side so she sees pastures full of cows and horses all the time. Sometimes even imagine herself riding on one. But today the sky wasn't sunny and animals wasn't outside, no people either. Not even Deen was standing behind her this time or her little cousins up early to walk beside her. The lights were off in every house, the sky was a dull blue, even the sun gave off a bright blue light making the world look grey and desserted. She can't even feel its heat. It feels cold. She begins to quiver, rubbing her arms for some heat. But now, Theres something with red eyes and dark skin peering though the trees. Nia can see it's eyes and a little of its body, It looks like some sort of animal, not a cow or a horse but something like a wolf. It's face is long, its skin is black as tar, a bit of spiky hair on top of its head leading to its back and its walking toward Nia exposing its entire body. Closer... Closer. Its head is low and now begins to show its teeth.

"What the?..." Nia begins to felt her skin crawling. She know's it must be an animal thats aggressive and will try to attack her. Next it snaps its jaws and raises its head. Nia starts to awkwardly slowly step backwards. Every muscle in her chest is tight and she realizes she's scared out of her mind. What is that thing?. It stops. Then Nia stops. Hopeing that it doesn't see her. But that would be stupid to hope for because its looking right at her. A second passes and she doesn't take a breath but she can here the creature breathing. Nia feels her head is cold and hard as stone theres no thought running through, she wonders if her heart is even still beating. Now Nia is debating wether she should make a run for it. And at a blink of an eye It lounges forward at full speed and Nia scatters into motion. Nearly tripping several times but catching herself everytime. Running dessperately to reach her door and get saftely inside was her only want, she screamed for someone to help her. Noone came out. Now she could hear the violent huffs of the beast getting louder and louder. Everything was numb in her body she couldn't even feel herself running. Finally she cuts across the yard and runs inside the house, slamming the door behind her trying to lock it... But wait... The door won't lock.

She tries and tries but the door would not lock Nia started crying and screaming for the door to lock. She was crying so hard it could have been blood streaming down her face and her lungs were tired of screaming for anyone to help her. The house was grey and noone was there. Her chest burned. And her head ached. But it took a minute for her to realize the beast wasn't trying to barge in. Nia would have looked to make sure but she was too scared. so she stood there with the handle in her hand pressing as hard as she could against the door. After awhile she forced herself to stop crying, she felt lost and hurt and was soo tired... Now she's pulling the door open slowly, and looks through. Oh God what am I doing. Nia thought. The beast, is nolonger there. But the sky is very bright grey still and theres soo many clouds in the sky. Now Nia hears thunder. It must be about to rain now. That thing must not like rain. Nia is now thinking this has to be impossible. She closes the door and looks around the living room, its grey, like an old T.V. show in the 80's. Nia doesn't want to move but she is soo tired, and after all this was her house just everybody was gone.

They will come back. She thought They wouldnt leave me. All along the while she walked down the short hallway to her room, it looked just how she left it, and crawled in bed. It was still very cold even with the covers on her. Her head was aching very bad, her body was sore, and now she was hungry. She cried softly and kept crying trying to go to sleep. Basically should couldn't because there was a pitter pat on her shoulder. She thought it was the covers but when she turned around it was the black beast opening its jaws, Nia let out a yelp in shock... -

"NOO!" Nia Yelps loudly as she wakes up in cold sweat, covers on the floor and thunder roaring in the sky outside but no rain. Not yet anyway. Nia looks around and slows her breathing in relief. Color is restored and she can see her night light and dresser lamps light. Her body really does ache and she has an headache but she realizes this signals her experience was another dreadful dream. "When will these bad dreams go away?!" Nia says fustratedly while falling back on her bed. But suddenly jumping back up when the door opens "Nia, why are you still in bed? You have four minutes to get ready!" Said Deen urgently leaving immidiately after. Nia frowns.
