    Wingless Prologue:

    The prolonged sadness that washed over me from that instant pricked my heart with a million needles. Without knowing, tears streaked my cheeks as I sat there, unmoving. Like a mirror shattering into thousands of pieces of broken glass shards, the pain I felt in my chest was so immense that I forgot how to breathe. Just the sensation that my very existence was gone was enough to pull all my weight down. Before I knew it, I was collapsed on the floor, someone shouting my name. Almost in that same instant, I was in motion; being carried off the cold stone floor and onto a soft fleece bed. In the distance, someone was still shouting my name. But, I didn’t care; I couldn’t care. Not anymore. As soon as I received that one call, my life was over before my performance could begin. . .
