• Something ate the dirt next to my feet. Countless paper-thin objects of immeasurable length pelted the earth of that pitch-black forest. I could never logically hope to escape the nightmarish force that wanted me dead, but giving in had never been an option. The death-bringing, slender tubes stalked me through that horrid patch of overgrown land; it was like one nightmare housed a much more maddening one. But my enemy was no illusion. He was of flesh and blood...or so to say. To be honest, I had no idea just what I was up against at that time. He was far too sly to reveal to me his identity. No, that would have been a fatal mistake for him. He relied on my ignorance. None of this would have come to pass if only I had known his name. I would never have been trapped in that repulsive realm of eternal night, where the trees were too thick and too many to let and single ray of sunlight illuminate the evil world that they concealed. It was the ideal location for him to commit the final acts that his plan called for. Everything up to that point had gone exactly according to his diabolical plan. I felt like every twig that snapped under my feet had been carefully and meticulously set for me to step on. Like every time I blinked, every hard breath that entered my lungs, had been set by him and the forces that he controlled. But he could not have possible seen what would happen next.

I'm sorry, what was that you just asked? Who am I? What was I fighting against? Why were we fighting to begin with? Forgive me, I seem to have gotten a bit ahead of myself. It all began many, many years ago...
