• Caine rushed the immense wood riding a green dragon. Caine had brown spiked hair that didn’t reach past his shoulders. His eyes were a soft blue and he had a somewhat thin body. He wore clothes that were suited for a knight preparing for combat. His left ear was pierced and he had a red scarf wrapped around his neck. The dragon was a greenish black color with a thin body. It stood no taller than six feet and was wingless and a saddle was strapped on its back with steel armor.
Caine zipped through the forest with amazing speed, ducking his head with the situation called for it. He could faintly hear the pounding of his pursuer’s horses’ feet beating against the ground. He took a chance and decided to glance back. A wide smile then appeared on his face as he saw no one in sight. He kicked the sides of the dragon and they ran even faster.
After about ten more minutes they came to a wide opening in the woods where a large sanctuary stood. Three people stood in front of the church waiting for him to approach them. One was a tall woman with a thin body. Her hair was blonde and extended far past her shoulder. She had violet eyes and both of her ears were pierced. She wore elegant clothes, but they still seemed like they were meant for combat. The man on her right side was a little shorter than her and was thinner. His face was concealed by a helm with a visor over his eyes. He wore silver armor and he gripped a sword in his right hand and a shield in his left. The man on her left was dressed the same but he was shorter and seemed much more fragile.
Caine dismounted the dragon and approached the three of them. He then came to a halt and his right hand shot up into a salute. “Caine Swantchè, of the Assault Brigade, reporting for duty, ma’am!”
She lifted up her hand. “At ease soldier. Were you followed here?”
Caine nodded his head. “I was, but I was able to put some distance between myself and the persuers. We should have plenty of time to get the princess to safety.”
The woman nodded her head. “Good. You will leave soon with the princess.”
“I’ll be escorting the princess. I was told that I would engaged in combat and nothing else by my Captain.”
“Well, you’re with the Aerial Brigade at the moment, and I say that you will be escorting the princess.”
Caine nodded his head slowly. “I understand.”....
The woman nodded her head as well. “Go inside and inform her highness.” She then stepped forward and stared at the two soldiers. “Kye. Yiue. Come with me. We’re gonna try to hold back these bastards back at all cost.”
Caine was left alone as they disappeared into the woods. So many things were running through his mind. Why did Garth say I was to fight? How much longer must this war drag on? I forgot who we were even fighting against. He let out a long sigh and quickly headed into the sanctuary.

Raiyne crouched over a patch of flowers in the sanctuary. Her hair was long and silver with matching eyes. She wore a long and elegant dress, but she was barefooted. Her face seemed to be carved out of marble by a great artist. Her skin was pale and her face seemed apathetic. She heard footsteps come forward but she didn’t flinch. She ceased tending to the flowers and just sat there.
“You’re Highness,” came a voice. “My name is Caine Swantchè. I’ve come here to take you away to safety.”
“Really,” asked Raiyne. Her voice was soft, but piercing at the same time. “And what do you consider safe, Caine. This war as made every place dangerous for me and my family. Where do you plan to take me?”
She watched as Caine stared at the ground. “I don’t know, but I won’t let anything happen to you. My mission is to make sure you are safe.”
“Really, is it really? Well, I wish you all the luck in your mission. Lets just hope it doesn’t end abruptly due to a stray arrow.”

Caine stared as those words left the princess’s mouth. He was partially confused. Was she referring to his death, or her own. Before he could ask he heard the sound of heavy doors being forced open and colliding with the wall.
    “Damn it. They’ve brokend through.”.....
