• My breath grew quicker as I flew faster and faster, dodging the falling rocks that were on fire. With my sister and brother flying behind me, I was sure we would make it. All our open wounds let the blood ooze out and shoot behind us. My wings were tired, beat, and worn out. But I had to keep going.

We followed the screams until we reached the others, half of them dangling off the edge of a cliff, and if they were to fall, they'd fall into molten lava. This volcano was about to erupt. It got hotter and hotter every second.

"Luna!" Layla cried. She was slipping farther and farther off the edge. I dashed over and grabbed her arms, lifted her to safety. Midnight and Peach did the same with the others. The lava exploded and the stream rose up like a bullet shooting into the sky.

"What are we going to do?" asked Natalie. We were all scared. Shadow, the mortal enemy of us all, had trapped us in the erupting volcano with no escape. This wasn't going to work. If we didn't act fast, we'd all die.

Just then, the rocks hanging from the ceiling crashed into the ground with a loud bang, and we bolted toward the nearest open space before we became crushed. Sally screamed as a rock sliced right down her leg and the red blood gushed out like waves in a wave pool. I flew over to her and healed her using some of my Moon Power. I was almost out of energy and power because of the long and brutal battle with Shadow earlier before we got stuck.

"We're running out of room," said Layla. "We might die."

"Never say that!" I screamed. "We're going to get out if its the last God damn thing we do. I'm not gonna let you all die. We will find a way out. We will." Adrenaline shot through my veins, and I flew up and smashed the crap out of a nearby rock. I'd been smashing a lot of rocks lately. Hey, it was either the rocks, or a friend. I chose rocks.

But sadly, she was right. We were running out of room. Pretty soon the floor will fall and everyone without wings would plummet to their deaths, and us winged ones can't save everyone. We needed a plan. I turned to Duke and Lewis. But they shook their heads. Everyone shook their heads. No one could come up with anything. We were ninety percent doomed.

Sally and Angel started to cry. Stacey and Dylan comforted them. It hurt me so much that there wasn't a thing I could do to save my friends. Then, like lightning, an idea popped into my mind. My Moon Power. I turned toward Peach. Her eyes grew wide.

"Luna no!! Don't you dare! You'll die! No!!" She shot her arms at me and hugged me tight enough to break me. "Luna, please. Don't." She started to cry. Her tears got heavier and heavier. But I knew I had to do it. Using my last amount of Moon Power, I glowed and hugged my friends with my power. Moon Power, I thought. Get my friends out of here and safe. Please.

"Luna!! NO!!" Peach screamed as she tried to resist my power and hugged me tight. But my power was too strong and they all disappeared into dust as I teleported them out of this place. My arm was broken, my wing fractured. But that wasn't going to stop me. Since I used all my remaining power to teleport them all, I had none left for me. But that was fine. I'm a monster, and the world doesn't need me. I'd die in the place of my friends any day. They can have better lives than me. I'm just a stupid freak.

"LUNA!!!" I heard Peach scream as she tried to tunnel through the walls. She was on the other side of the pit, but since my Moon Power was letting me keep in contact with them, I could hear every word. Every scream.

"Peach," I heard Midnight say. "She used her remaining power to get us out. Its not worth it. She did all she could to save us. Then I heard sobbing. Deep sobbing coming from a meter away from them.

"Luna," I heard Layla say. "Why did you sacrifice yourself for us. Why? Please, Gods and Goddesses of Azerath, keep her alive!" Her sobs became deep as Duke held her close. I could have sworn I heard him sobbing too. I think everyone was sobbing. Did they really love me that much? I can't believe that they actually cared. Sure, they are like me, but I'm the only one with the deadly Moon Power.

Please everyone, I thought. Please. Stop crying. I stood up, and screamed.

"I'M NOT WORTH IT!" Right then, everyone gasped and stopped crying. I was the only one crying at this point. The tears dropped and fell to the floor. They evaporated because of the heat.

"Luna," I heard someone say. "Do you honestly think that your friends would be safe out here? Have you forgotten, I'm outside?" I looked up and gasped. Shadow! That jerk! I shook the thought of my friends being slaughtered out of my head and dried my tears. Just then I heard an ear-piercing scream. Layla! How dare he hurt my friends!

My wings shot out as far as they could go. He was not getting away with this! I bolted off the ground and shot into the air. The volcano started to erupt and explode. I flew higher and faster as the lava chased me to the top. It was a race against time. The finish line was up ahead, and there was no way I'd lose. I couldn't die. I hadn't kept my promise. Protect my friends as long as I can. Even though I had no power left, the thought of my friends gave me strength, and I pushed myself farther and farther until I reached the top.

There was a boulder in the way of my path, and by my calculations, if I used enough strength, I could smash right through it. And I was rarely wrong. I built up my strength and clammed my hands tight into fists. I flew right up to the boulder, and punched it as hard as I could. My hand was bleeding and stinging, but I didn't care. My fist pounded into the rock as my body and the lava followed.

I took a deep breath and pushed harder and harder. Pretty soon I breathed fresh air and felt cool wind on my face as I smashed right through and out of the volcano. The people down below pointed up at me, my fist straight in the air as I continued to fly higher, dodging the lava.

"Luna!" Peach screamed. "Luna! She's alive!" Everyone cheered and hugged themselves as Shadow held Layla by the throat, shock on his face just as I looked at him and just when Duke striked at him. He dropped Layla and she fell limp to the ground.

"Sacred Moon Blade of the heavens! Take form!" Just then, a glowing white blade appeared above me as I flew up and grabbed it. In a quick second, I changed course and headed straight toward Shadow, paralyzed with amazement. This is it Shadow. Your dead!

"Impossible..." I heard him mumble. His eyes were wide, full of surprise and fear. I could see, even smell and taste, the fear around him.

"Possible!" I shouted. "Now Shadow, return to where you belong, in the shadow lands of Hell!" At that second, I took the blade and shot it right through his chest, into his heart and lungs, and yanked it up through his head.

    He is finished.
