Chapter Three: The Necklace
"Man, I hate homework!" I thought out loud as I gave up trying to concentrate on my Geometry. It wasn't that I didn't like math, but I had been doing my homework for at least 2 hours now, and I was really bored.
*knock knock*
I turned around to find Xaine standing at my door.
"How's It hangin'?" He asked in his usual joking way.
"Fine, just finishing my homework....." I answered as he rushed to my side and put his hand on my forehead.
"Are, you okay?" He asked with concern evident in his voice.
"Ya, why?"
"Well since when do you do your homework on a Friday?"
"TODAY'S FRIDAY?!!"
"Um...ya"
"Ugh, I did all this work for nothing!" I exclaimed angrily.
"Well it's done now. Anyway I found something for you as I was coming home." He replied as he reached into his pocket and dug around, before pulling out a necklace and handing it to me.
As I reached for it, I gasped. The necklace was made out of silver, except for a small key attached to the chain. The key was emerald green and sparkled in the lamp light. As I turned it over, I discovered a small engraving on the blade that I couldn't quite make out. As my breath returned to me, I asked him "It's beautiful, where did you find it?"
" In an antique store by the ramen place. One look and I knew it was perfect for you." Xaine said, as he quitely slipped out the door.
"Well thanks" I said to the spot where he had once stood.
"Man, I know he is a kitsune, but how DOES he sneak around like that" I thought to myself as I got up and put the necklace on my dresser.
"Kiri!" My mother called from the top of the stairs.
"Nani?"
"Make sure you remember to set your alarm clock; Serna and I are going to need your help moving items around in the storage buildings tomorrow."
"Okay" And with that said I changed into my pajamas and collapsed, asleep, on my bed.
