Chapter Two: Cats and Rice
"Serna!" I called out through the down pour. No response. I tried calling her again. Still no response.
"Why can't I ever find her when I need her" I thought to myself as I started walking towards the storage buildings."And it's going to start thundering so-
*A bolt of lightning stretches across the sky followed quickly by a large clap of thunder*
"soon" I then sighed
"mother knows how much I hate thunder and rain, why couldn't she just get Serna herself. " I stated out loud.
I was so pre-occupied with my thoughts that I didn't even notice a kimono-clad figure approach.
"Looking for me?" The figure said.
"Wha" I said jumping back slightly."oh it's just you Serna, Okaa-san wants you to start dinner."
"Tell her I'll be in to start dinner in a moment. Now you on the other hand, had better get inside. You're completely drenched."
"Fine, but hurry up!" With that I raced back into the house, pulling off my shoes and rain coat at the door, taking the stairs in a bound, and flinging my self down on my bed.
Being half-cat demon, I could stand it most of the time that it rained here in Kyoto, but I have my limits on the amount of cold water I could stand, and I had definitively reached it. Quickly searching for a dry change of clothes, I went to the bathroom I shared with Serna and started the water flowing in the tub.
----------------Later on-------------------------------------------------
"Thanks for the chow!" I happily stated holding my chopsticks in one hand and my full rice bowl in another.
"Yes it does look delicious Serna" Okaa-san complimented.
"Its nothing special" Serna replied reaching over to refill my now empty rice bowl. "Well someone is sure hungry today!"
"I can't help it, running in the rain makes me hungry"
Serna and my mother burst into laughter as I retrieved my now full rice bowl. After they had stopped laughing I asked my question.
"Hey Okaa-san"
"Hmm?"
"When is Xian going to be home?"
"He called me when you were at school and said that he hopes to be home around 10:00. He also said that he would get something to eat on the way here, so you can eat as much as you want."
"Yay!" I exclaimed in a very childish way that made my mother and Serna laugh again.
"Just leave some for Okaa-san and I!" Serna told me quickly, as I finished my rice in record speed and moved on to my teriyaki.
