What was going on? I still didn't know. And it didn't help that there were people chasing us, freaks...all of them. They were all wearing strange looking uniforms, each embellished with a clearly visible X on it. I couldn't see what was happening anymore, all I saw was a pure white haze covering everything around me. Tristan was against my back, he'd been there when this had all started. We had gone out to the park, just for a quiet walk at sunset. We'd sat down on one of the benches and nodded off together. We had awakened to raucous laughter and when I opened my eyes, we were surrounded by a gang of teenaged boys, all with weapons. Tristan did something I'd heard him say, he'd never done it before. He risked his life for me, shielding me from on of the boys attacks. He'd swung a steel pipe at me and I hadn't seen it. I heard an audible crack as my lover's ribs were broken. I never felt it coming but my rage overwhelmed me. In a matter of moments, I found myself in the eye of a tornado, with no less than twenty teenaged boys flying through the air around me. I knelt down and tenderly lifted Tristan into my arms, a first considering I was never very strong and he was a bit heavier I was. The next thing I knew, something blasted me from behind and the winds became even stronger. I laid Tristan down and I regained my footing after the blast. I was going to protect what was mine and Tristan was definitely mine.
