Nearly a year has passed since the last time I paid any heed to my long forgotten journal and at last I have an interesting new story to tell. This is a true story, one that happened to me just a few days ago in real life.
As it so happens, I have a friends who is, let us say "less than reputable" when it comes to anti-drugs. I knew he had problems in his past but since he told me he was trying to get clean and since I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt, I believed him. Let us say that this was not my smartest decision ever.
I received a phone call from said friend, let's call him Andy. Anyway, I received a call from Andy on Thursday night, asking if he could borrow some money and get a ride to the pharmacy because he was broke and needed to get a prescription filled. I agreed, thinking he was going to get a refill of a medicine I was told he has a legitimate prescription for. Because I believed he was trying to get clean, I thought nothing of it and took him. Needless to say, he wasn't getting a legit prescription and because I was with him at the time, I was arrested as well. So I got to spend 24 hours in jail because he thought he could pretend he was a doctor, call in a prescription of Xanex and get it in someone else's name.
And now, my flawlessly clean criminal record now has massive black spot on it in the form of felony charges simply because I was trying to be a good friend to an idiot. Go figure. I only hope that the judge believes me when I tell them I'm innocent in court. Otherwise, Heaven only knows when and if I'll ever get out of this at all. And God only knows what kind of punishment the Judge will sentence me to if they don't believe me.
