Chapter One, "City Stroll"

It Had Been Raining For Several Days Now
The Streets Were Lined With Grime, The Kind You Get When
Water Mixes With The Grit On Wheels.
People Shuffled Through Typical City Life Hidden
Behind Thick Coats, It Was Warm Enough To Rain
But The Rain Was Freezing.

Trent Trudged Through The Streets.
Nicks Was Probably In A Huff, It Had Been Almost
Two Hours Since He'd Gone To Pick Up New Shoes.
He Shot An Unhappy Glare Towards The Shoes On His Feet.
He'd Just Gone To Pick These Up, Yet The Rain Had Already
Begun To Ruin Them. The Soaked Bottoms Of His Pants
Made A Grinding Noise, They Were Too Big, And The Rain
Had Done Nothing To Help That, The Ends Were Probably Frayed By Now.

Trent Gave A Less-Than-Graceful Shove, Opening To Door
To His Apartment. Nicks, His Good, If Not Only, Friend Sat Lazily on The Sofa.
"How The Shoes Goin'?" He Mumbled In A Uninterested Tone.
Trent Tossed His Sweater Into A Corner "Terrible, They Already Bite..."
Nicks Shrugged And Continued To Watch TV."Better Than Nothing."

Trent Let Out A Deep Sigh And Lit A Cigarette "What's On The TV?"
Nicks Chuckled, "Dust. Hey, You're Gonna Get Your Face Kicked In If Someone Finds You Smoking In Here." Trent Knew He Wasn't Allowed To Smoke Inside
The Apartment Building, He Knew He Shouldn't Be Smoking At All, But
He'd Just Marched Through A Couple Blocks Of Rain In Soaked Shoes,
He Didn't Care...

Trent Turned The TV Off.
"Hey, Get Outta My Apartment. I've Gotta Sleep..."
Nicks Sighed, He Didn't Have A TV In His Apartment,
"Yeah Yeah Yeah, Whatever, You Know You Don't Sleep..."
Nicks Shuffled Out The Door, Before Trent Slammed It Shut
And Promptly Locked It. Nicks Was Right, He Didn't Sleep,
He Just Layed There. Insomnia Was An Annoying Problem.

Trent Stubbed Out His Half-Burnt Out Cigarette.

Just Another Day...
