Chapter 6 Turn it up loud
The little girl ran towards me screaming and crying. “Don’t leave me! Don’t leave me!” She cried. I tried to run towards her but the path seemed to never end. The little girl was then taken by a man with a black coat on. I screamed for her trying to run to her, but I was going no where. Someone then grabbed my mouth and throat from behind me. A shock hit me. I then shot up from my bed and gasped for air. I was panting and holding my throat. I had woken G.I.N. up. “J.A.N.E. are you okay?” G.I.N. rubbed his eyes. “Y-yea I think so, just a bad dream.” “Mmm…okay.” He then rolled over and went back to sleep. I however, stayed up looking at the ceiling, lost in thought. I kept having weird dreams about a little girl scared in the city late at night. It was a recurring event too, but each time something different happened to me. It was always more painful then the last. What was happening to me? *** Today was the day I was to go back to Rhymo. I was ready to face Silton. No longer would I be afraid of him, but that was a lie. I dressed in black and leather, my normal CIA clothes. Although I was dressed in my normal clothes I still had to change my eye and hair color, because he still thought I was a house nano. G.I.N. watched me as I loaded my guns, he was very quiet today. It was probably because he was as nervous as I was. One slip of anything could expose who I really was. The pressure would be on. I put my gun safely inside of my secret pocket in my trench coat. Once I was ready T.R.A.N. gave me tips for Silton’s behavior.R3N was all in a serious mood. They would be guiding me if I needed help. R.E.N. had installed a chip into my mother board earlier so that they could see what I was seeing through my eyes. I was ready and determined. I looked at all the agents and master. G.I.N. was like a statue, so tense and strong. Master nodded at me and with that, I left. I tugged on my biker gloves and got on my Hatcher. The Hatcher was just in for repairs and it looked amazing. I turned on the gas and it roared loudly as the blue on the bottom lit up and illuminated the whole garage. The helmet assembled on my head and the helmet shield wielded from left to right, covering my eyes. I released the break and rode out into the cloudy dark day. I took off towards the Rhymo building and got there in less than a minute. The helmet disassembled into the back of my head. As I was about to put the force field lock on my Hatcher I noticed someone watching me. I used my peripheral vision and watched him watching me. He was a tall guy with a sleeveless shirt on with his brown hair spiked. When a car went by and the lights from the car flashed by his face I saw his black markings that covered his whole eyelid into what seemed like a wing. He was a nano. Why was he watching me? I have never seen him in my life, well nano life. He followed me with his eyes; it was kind of creepy really. I soon couldn’t take it anymore and turned around looking at him straight in the face. “What is your problem?!” I glared. He smiled a wide grin. “It’s funny how serious you are.” I gave him a what-in-the-heck look. He shook his head and made a deep giggling noise. “J.A.N.E. am I right, no?” He was spinning a rose. How did he know my name?! “Uh, how do you know who I am?” “I won’t tell just yet, after we’ve done some talking.” It seemed like he almost had a German accent. Apparently he seemed to notice what I was thinking. “I am from Deutschland or Germany in your case. Doesn’t look like I could be German, no?” I shook my head. “Ah, I am Korean with a German accent, funny isn’t it?” “Hilarious, now if you excuse me I have something I need to take care of.” I was still curious to know how he knew my name, but I needed to focus. He then stopped me by lightly grabbing my arm. “Wait, I haven’t told you my name. It’s M.E.R.I.N. M.orphing E.xpert R.obotic I.ntellectual N.ano
“Don’t be afraid of me when we meet again, J.A.N.E. and that we will.” He winked and took off behind an alley. “What a weird nano,” I thought. Looking up at the massive sky scraper that was Rhymo, I sighed heavily. I walked into the lobby with determination. As soon as I looked at the lady at the desk she jumped up and greeted me. “Well hello there! How are you J.A.N.E.? Good, well that’s good.” She spoke so fast I didn’t even get to answer. “Well Mr. Silton is waiting for you. I’ll send you right up.” She giggled and showed me to the glass elevator. I stepped in and watched the engineering once more again, but this time I noticed something. There were more nanos than the last time and the Staylines seemed to be being built faster. His empire was growing. The glass elevator shot up to the top floor and gently stopped. The glass doors opened and the hallway leading to the double doors where Silton worked was visible. As I walked I noticed the long white pillars down the hall had painted images of stayline and nanos by Rhymo. I hesitated for a moment then knocked on one of the double doors. I then turned on the camera inside my eyes so that the CIA could see. A chair being rolled sound came from the other side and then heaves with footsteps following afterwards. The door locks were turning and soon the double doors swung open revealing Silton in a cheerful mood. He was wearing a cream deep v-neck jacket with a crystal hanging from a chain around his neck and cream pants with white boots. His eyes burned a deep blue; he was content. “J.A.N.E.! It’s so good to see you again!” He chimed. “Like wise Silton.” I nodded at him. “Come in, come in.” He took my arm and led me to the couch. I sat down and gave him one of my most convincing smiles. “Before we start and get carried away in conversations I must apologize because I may have to leave due to a busy schedule.” “Oh! Well if you want I could come back another day.” I started to get up. “No, no! It is fine! Please stay.” He gave a pleading face. I sat back down and nodded. “Okay, if you’re sure.” I nodded once more. Silton smiled a chilling grin that stretched across his haunting face. “It is so nice of you to visit me. How is the family member that was injured?” I cringed and looked down remembering what mistake I had made and all that had followed after. “He’s okay now I guess. I hope he will be in better health soon. It was my fault for not being there.” I knew that G.I.N. and Master was watching and that I had to get it off my chest. Silton nodded and averted his eyes to the massive window that was behind his desk. “Mmm….” He didn’t look very sympathetic. “J.A.N.E. what is your opinion on the “super” nano? S.U.N. I believe his name was.” A chill ran down my spine; my brother? “He was an incredible nano and should have never been murdered.” I was being honest, but wasn’t thinking what T.R.A.N. told me to do. Silton’s eyes turned light blue to that almost white. My heart beat fast as adrenaline hit me. He looked at me in a most chilling way. “You don’t think at all the nano needed to be stopped? He was powerful and had no idea of his capability towards the society. S.U.N. was an idiot and I am glad he is gone. Who knows what he would have done with all that power.” I tightened my fists and my eyes started to turn red, but I stopped them right away and started to relax. His eyes we’re eerie and started to scare me. I had to save myself. “Oh! Well if you put it that way Silton, I couldn’t agree with you more.” I flashed a sweet look. Silton eased up and eyes turned to normal blue. He soon was smiling again. “Yes, I believe that a smart nano should be created if he or she were to be as powerful as S.U.N., someone who knows what they’re doing and what they truly have.” His eyes lit up in satisfaction. I was practically crawling out of my skin and shooting him right then and there. I almost did when there was a tiny frail knock on the door. “Hmm, excuse me.” Silton skidded to the door while his eyes turned back to the icy blue. He opened one of the doors. “Sorry to bother you sir, but I have the files you wanted.” She spoke with an old fashioned English accent. She bowed in her long golden dress and then stared at me. It was Victoria. Her eyes were transfixed on me. I simply blinked at her. “Oh, you have company I’m dearly sorry Silton.” She bowed once more politely. “It’s alright Victoria, come in.” He said in a flat irritated tone. He went to his computer and started to type. Silton looked up at me. “Oh Victoria this is J.A.N.E., the girl I told you about that whom I met at the café. Remember?” Victoria nodded and smiled sweetly. How could someone so polite and sweet be so… so evil? “Alright Victoria the files are in.” Silton says still in an irritated tone. “Thank you Silton.” She curtsies. She then pauses to look at me. “You look incredibly familiar, have we met before or seen each other?” Panic hits me. She was at the same hotel as me when I ran away. She could have seen that I wasn’t really a house nano and of more importance. A trickle of sweat slides down the back of my neck as panic hits my circuits. “N-no, I don’t believe so.” My voice was almost shaky and ready to crack. “I know I’ve seen your face before. Just minus the eye and hair color.” She observes me more. My heart is about ready to burst out of my chest. Silton looks at me then back at Victoria. “Victoria leave J.A.N.E. be, she obviously has no memory of you,” Silton says in a deep voice. “You are dismissed my sweet.” He was practically cooing her to leave. Victoria smiled sweetly and nodded her head. As she headed out the door she froze and looked at me quickly with terrifying white eyes. A sense of fear bleed through me. Silton raised his eye brow and eyes returned to an icy blue. “Victoria, why have you stopped?” His voice turned harsh. With a shaky hand she pointed at me. “That girl! She was at the hotel! She’s not a house nano! J.A.N.E. is very much of importance. She had blue eyes and short black hair. She had the arm mark of a regular nano!” I started to panic. I was going to die. My heart felt like a time bomb ready to explode with fear and panic. I managed to direct my eyes at Silton who was staring at me. He glared. “That can’t be true.” He looked at the white-eyed Victoria. “She doesn’t have any of the things you described. She is obviously a house nano.” He grabbed a hold of my arm and showed it to her. “Look no mark. I think you are having another malfunction Victoria.” Silton then pressed a button on his desk to let the repair and security robots come in. “B-but Sir Silton! I have no malfunction! I am telling the truth!” The robots grabbed her arms and started to pull her back into the hall. She thrashed around yelling at Silton that she was telling the truth about me. Victoria started to scream in frustration. Then just before the double doors closed her eyes turned red and hatred was thrown on me; I felt it. I turn to look at Silton. “You must excuse her. She is a new nano, but I am sure you could tell that. Would you like to know where she came from?” He eyed me. “Okay.” I nodded. “I created a time traveling device. I know it is illegal to use them, but I saved Victoria from being killed.” “I-I don’t understand. Why is she dressed like that?” Silton laughs deeply in a dark, evil way. He looks up and his eyes are nearly white again. “I took her from the Victorian Age in old England. She was to be murdered by a killer, but I saved her because she was one of the smartest people in her time. Victoria was almost pure spirit. She was half.” His grin widened as he closed his eyes still chuckling to himself. He then opened his icy eyes and looked back at me. “At first she was shocked to see me, well who wouldn’t if you met someone from the future. I had to trap Victoria to come with me because it was too overwhelming for her; she had no clue what I was telling her. So, I took her to Rhymo. You can probably imagine it was way too overwhelming for her so I had to drug her.” He paused to walk over to the window. “I then created Victoria the nano. Since she is only half pure spirit, she’s not nearly as strong as S.U.N. Not even as strong as myself.” A spark twinkles in his eye. “You’re probably wondering why did I take her then. Well, I knew she’d be of value because she knew old customs and so many secrets that were never revealed to the world because they were lost forever in history at the time. Thanks to her I have used some of the old inventions and made them more advanced in my robots. Magnificent if I do say so myself.” He laughs deeply. “And thanks to her she has made a great assistant as well as agent. Thanks to Victoria the CIA will be off my case and that god forsaken man is dead.” My eyes widen. He knows! The whole room started to spin. Silton knew the CIA was on him. That man who he claimed to be dead is, Religa Hazaki; Master. “Did you really think I was so unintelligent J.A.N.E.? I know who you are and all about you. I heard your working for the CIA. Did you also know that I was informed you’re the one with the pure spirit?” He laughs and looks darkly at me walking slowly towards me. I felt like I was going to die right then and there. “I have to hand it to you; you’re not a bad actress.” His eyes turn red as a long grin creeps across his face. “It just wasn’t nearly good enough. Thanks to Victoria who found out all about you from tricking your poor stupid fool of a master. Now, J.A.N.E. I believe your pure spirit should be given to me so that I may rule the world the right way.” I fell back in my chair and crawled backwards away from Silton slowly as he came forward to me. My disguise was destroyed due to fear, I was now revealed. I looked at the window and then back at Silton. I ran for it. Silton grabbed my arm just before I was going to jump out of it. I screamed and kicked around. He held my throat in his grasp with his hand over my mouth. My eyes watered as I needed air. I kept coughing trying to get a hold of a large breath of air. I then noticed a Stayline coming towards Silton as it slashed his face making him scream and hold his bloody red gash across his nose bridge. He had real blood because he was special. In terror I gazed at the Stayline. It looked at me awkwardly and not like any Stayline I’ve seen before. I then saw a rose marking on its arm. I immediately knew it was M.A.R.I.N. Silton hunched over in pain. He looked at M.A.R.I.N. wildly and in the most frightening way I have ever seen someone look. His eyes were different colors. One was white and the other was fire red. Knives assembled themselves on Silton’s wrists and grew to be as long as a kantana. I pulled out my guns from the secret pocket and shot at his knives. The bullets bounced right off as Silton charged at me. M.A.R.I.N. got in front of me and blocked the slashes that Silton was delivering. He looked back at me and I knew that was the signal to leave. An alarm went off. Just before I was about to go through the window I looked back at Silton who had his hand on the button and had a death glare directed at me. I crashed out the window and as I did I heard the screeching of M.A.R.I.N. being torn apart by Silton.
