Chapter 4 I spy with my mechanic eye…
I managed to redeem myself and make it seem like there wasn’t a wanted man holding my hand. “I’m J.A.N.E.” I gave him a sweet smile again. Nervously, I messed with my half mitts. “Oh what a lovely name! You are a house nano, no?” He asked that too anxiously. “Yes, its hard work but I manage to keep the people’s work in line.” He looked at me with satisfaction. “How would you like to see what a big business nanos’ work is like?” Silton grinned and raised his eyebrow. My heart raced and every circuit flow in me felt hot. I didn’t know what to do! Master told me to be careful and G.I.N. said to never face any of the Rhymo leaders alone. I also had to get more information for the CIA. My decision was clear. I was going to go, weather I died or not, no one was really going to miss me. “Sure! I would love to!” I gave him a big excited look. Silton then took my arm and walked me to the heart of all things evil, Company Rhymo. My stomach churned and all my wires felt hot and pulsating, like blood heating in a humans’ body. When we nanos bleed we bleed plasma, kind of like blue blood. Silton led me into the building. Everything was red and black and full of luster. A lady at the front desk looked up to view us and smiled. She was sitting so close to the screen her glasses almost touched the monitor. “Good morning Mr. Silton!” She gushed at him in a fake sweet voice. Silton just smiled and bowed his head at her then kept us walking. He led me to a glass elevator. As we rode in it the elevator slid from right to left, revealing robots creating other robots and in the far back of the massive white room was people becoming nanos. I gasped at the sight of it all. It was a much bigger lab than what master had back at base. Silton smiled at me when he noticed my expression. I blushed knowing he was watching me. The elevator jerked and I fell to the side, but Silton chuckled and caught me. It then went up to the forty-fifth floor. Silton took my hand and led me into his black and blue lustrous office. “This is where I work.” He said proudly. “It’s amazing Silton! So many things going on at once down there.” I smiled and thought of an idea. “How could you possibly do it by yourself?” I pretended to scratch my ear but instead I pushed the recording button. His face lit up. “Oh I don’t work alone. I have two fabulous co-workers. Their names are Vic…” He then was interrupted by something he noticed on his desk. Silton picked it up and his eyes turned harsh. It scared me to see a nano like this, but then again he was a “super” nano. His eyes had turned into a light blue almost an almost clear blue. He was angry about something but tried to not show it. “Something wrong Silton?” I asked innocently. “Y-yes. It appears that something has come into my schedule. If you will excuse me for a moment.” He turns to the double door and spreads them apart with force making them slam against the wall. I flinched when I saw how strong he could be when he was displeased. Sitting there for a few minutes just until I heard his feet stop pounding I called T.R.A.N. “Hello? J.A.N.E.?” “Yes. T.R.A.N. I’m inside of Rhymo. I’m going to try to look for information. Call the CIA after I tell you what I find, got that?” “Okay. Why didn’t you call G.I.N.?” “I’m not supposed to be here alone, I don’t want him knowing. Where are you guys anyway?” “Ah, I see. We’re at headquarters. Everyone is treating us like gods.” He laughed. I rifled through papers on his desk making sure that I put them back just right after I was done. I found nothing, until I opened the drawer underneath the computer. Packets were piled high of his records as well as his fathers. Another packet next to his was blue prints of the Staylines like the ones G.I.N. and I faced the previous night. I also found a girl who looked like she was from the Victorian age. The name was printed Victoria. Maybe that’s who Silton was trying to mention. I put everything back as it was. “T.R.A.N., there are files here of blue prints of Staylines, like the one we faced, and another file with a girl from the Victorian age named Victoria.” I heard typing in the background. “Got it. Alright you better sign off before he comes back. Be safe!” He hung up and I pressed the phone button in my ear once again. I heard footsteps coming from the hall and I closed his drawer shut. I then raced over to the seat and sat like I was just waiting for him to return. Silton opened the double doors again, but this time softly. His eyes returned to their chilling blue and he was smiling. “Sorry to keep you waiting, I had an urgent matter that needed to be taken care of.” “Oh! No problem Silton. I can see you’re a very busy man.” I gave him a sweet sympathetic look. He bought it. “So what do you think of my work?” He asked pouring himself and me a cup of water. “Truly amazing! I have never seen something more progressive in my life.” It was a dirty little lie, but he took it. He chuckled. “Well thank you my dear friend.” He handed me my water and I drank it politely. “Its not often I get beautiful visitors like yourself.” He grinned a white smile at me. I smiled back not showing my teeth. I needed to get out of here! I wanted to stay to get more information but I couldn’t do it alone, I was starting to get nervous around Silton. One wrong thing to say to him and I could be dead in an instant. Then my phone rings. Saved! Or so I thought. “Oh! I’m sorry, if you will excuse me.” I say gracefully and bow to him. “Oh no, no, go ahead.” He said high heartedly. I walked outside of his office and pressed the talk button. It was G.I.N. “J.A.N.E.! Please help! Where are you?!” He was in a panic and breathing hard. “What is it G.I.N.?! G.I.N. calm down tell me what’s wrong!” I started to panic and a rush of adrenaline spread throughout my body. “It’s Master! He’s been attacked! Please come right away! J.A.N.E. I need you! I’ll be here please come!” With that he hung up. I froze as if I were paralyzed. I unconsciously pressed the off button. I then snapped out of it and ran into Silton’s office. “I’m sorry but I must go, there’s been a family emergency.” He gets up from his seat. “Oh but of course! I’m so sorry. Please come see me again. I hope to see you again at the coffee shop and not be as careless as I was today.” He bowed. “I hope we meet again.” I then turned and ran into the elevator. “Master! Oh please Master be alright!” I thought.
