Chapter 2
Another End…
The Staylines’ eyes changed to red once my feet hit the ground. They glitched in distress and sparked as their eyes spun furiously into a blood red. I fired while running. Bullets blazed into their metal making them spark and burn out making them appear lusterless and dull. G.I.N. fired the turret gun at any Stayline that was open and decided to laugh evilly along with it. I smiled and laughed to myself firing at them.
One by one they all fell with a logging off sound and then falling with a loud mechanical thud. Breathing hard I straighten up and look up at G.I.N.; he has dirt on the side of his face. He nods at me.
I start to walk towards him when he yells my name. I turn, and am face to face with a Mechastayline. I scream and cover my face with my arms and fell backwards in fear. Three flashes of red shoot across my eyes. The MechaStayline then splits in half revealing the wires and mother boards inside of it. I slowly put down my arms and observe what had just happened.
Three figures appear under the moonlight, all of them in red. There was two men and a girl; damn! They weren’t the Rhymo creators. I was still curious to know who they were, regardless.
The first male with a black leather face mask grabbed my arm and pulled me up, it made a clanking noise as he did so. He eyed me with his red eyes. The girl looked so innocent, but harsh at the same time. The other male with the goggles on his head smirked at me. G.I.N. slid down the hill and straightened himself up next to me aiming his guns at the three.
“Put ‘em down boy, we mean no harm.” The male with the goggles grins.
“Please mister don’t shoot we’re just here to talk!” The female had a voice so gentile and quite.
G.I.N. lowers his guns but stands his ground. He glares at each one to let them know he won’t be shy to kill them. The Male with the face mask turns to me and looks me in the eyes. He wasn’t mad nor threatened, then why are his eyes red? Why were they all red? Nanos usually don’t have red eyes, but robots do. They were too well built for robots and had all the features of nanos.
G.I.N. tenses up as the male with the face mask walks closer to me. His eyes looked gentle but he had an uneasy vibe coming from him. He grabbed my hand and bowed to it. G.I.N. was really uneasy; I could read it on his face.
“I am T.R.A.N.”
T.echnical
R.obotic
A.uto
N.ano
He held my hand and his eyes lit up. He was transferring all his information into my circuit board. I could see what his name meant, where he came from, anything that he wanted me to know and it was all appearing in my eyes like a screen on a computer. He let go of my hand and his eyes dimmed back into red. The girl stepped forward and shook my hand sending me her information this time.
“My name is I.R.I.N.”
I.nteractive
R.obotics
I.nventor
N.ano.
She smiled so sweetly at me, but again a strange wave comes over me. These nanos had something weird about them. I still felt something that I had remembered feeling before but I just can’t remember.
The male with goggles came forward with hands in his pockets then grabbed my arm aggressively so all information was transferred.
“Sup, I’m R.E.N.”
R.obotics
E.xpert
N.ano
G.I.N.’s face was like stone, strong yet can easily crack. He made himself look uptight and stiff. He was really protective of me, due to his programming and maybe just because he cared, I know I cared.
T.R.A.N. looks at me with his red eyes. They spin fast as he’s focusing on me.
“You are J.A.N.E., no?” T.R.A.N. asks in his deep but melancholy voice. “From the CIA? G.I.N. too?” T.R.A.N. had a strange accent.
“Y-yes. But how did you know that?!” I asked shocked. No one and I mean no one was to know that.
They all grin at each other and exchange glances.
“Good ‘cause we were looking for you all over this damn city.” R.E.N. says.
“It took forever to find you love.” I.R.I.N. says sweetly.
G.I.N. eases up a bit as if he’s noticed something I haven’t I look at him then back at them. “What did you find out G.I.N.?” I thought. I was curious to know if he finally noticed what I hadn’t.
T.R.A.N. turns to me. He noticed I was thinking about something, but says nothing yet as if he was waiting for me to figure it out, so his eyes just lit up waiting for the answer.
I thought deep trying to think of what these nanos problems were. They all seemed so familiar, too familiar.
“You alright love?” I.R.I.N. asks.
“Huh? Oh, I’m fine just thinking. H-how do you know about me and G.I.N.?” I ask, maybe too anxious.
I.R.I.N. blinks at me then smiles. “Well don’t you know? Didn’t Master tell you about us? You work for the CIA, how come we don’t seem familiar to you J.A.N.E.?”
My head was spinning. So many questions, I was soon lost in thought. For a nano I wasn’t a very quick thinking one.
“N-no, I’m afraid not. I no nothing about you.” I say defeated.
They exchange looks of shock. R.E.N. gets right in my face.
“What?! That old man! Keeping his poor nanos uninformed of the greatest creations known to man!” I.R.I.N. slaps him across the arm.
T.R.A.N. pushes him out of the way to talk to me. “J.A.N.E. we’re the bandits for the nano division.”
That’s when everything came to me. My circuit board was flooded with remembrance. They were the legendary creations Master told me when I remember first being a nano. They were half robot half nano. The R3N, Robot three Nanos. They were bandits, but great spies. Master told me they once saved the world by destroying the traitor Alkaz in a major battle, but they never returned to the agency, just wrote that they lived and were going away for a while. They were back?! Why now? Why me? I looked at G.I.N. and he nodded at me as if he knew already. He was an older nano, but faster processor, weird isn’t it?
“Why are you here?” I asked worried knowing they only came for the real emergencies.
They looked at one another again then T.R.A.N. speaks. “Do you guys remember Alkaz?”
Both G.I.N. and I nod our heads.
“Did you ever know he had a family? A son by the name of Les.”
“A son? No I haven’t been informed of that.” I was shocked and knew something big was going to happen.
“That son after years without a father has grown evil and devious.”
“I can imagine.”
G.I.N. interrupts impatiently, “How is his son going to help us in our case?”
R.E.N. grunts and laughs. “Dude, that’s one of the main Rhymo cult leaders.”
