&&_Just Take A Look;;
&&_Chromosomes Say;; Male
&&_Candles On The Cake;; Twenty-seven
&&_Back To The Roots;; The Republic of Cyprus
&&_It's More Than Performing, It's Living;; Hypnotist
&&_A Little Self Reflection;; Demetrios is an old-fashioned boy, more likely to buy his clothing out of dollar bins at thrift stores rather than at a high priced department store. He favors comfortability more than anything, though due to his love for things of the past, his clothing can be a bit outdated.
A mixture of cremes and beiges spun with intricate embroidery and fine silks, his sense of fashion easily falls short of something last seen in- oh, late Victorian Europe. When not performing he usually presents himself in loose-fitting earthly colored tunics, a worn brown canvas coat, washed out straight-leg jeans, and vintage boots. Give or take the usual wool cap or scarf. He likes simplicity, at least on the average day.
His performance wear is quite different however, though still retaining the appearance of something someone walked out of a thrift store with. A black and silver brocaded tailcoat with a double breasted black vest, a cravat, pinstripe trousers, white dress gloves, and polished gaiters. He intentionally tries to play the part of someone who has just walked out of time machine, with of course his special silver pocket watch that dangles from his waistcoat. He wouldn't be much of a hypnotist without it.
&&_Swingin' That Way;; Comfortable with all natures of sexuality.
&&_Window Into The Past;; Born on the divided island of Cyprus in a Turkish controlled town called Kyrenia, young Demetrios grew up with his Aunt and baby sister Anemone in an apartment building along the coast. When he was eight years old (and his sister three) his parents had perished in a house fire from which the children had narrowly escaped. Orphaned, they went to live with the closest immediate family they had left, their Aunt on their father's side, Agatha Galanis. Half Turkish and half Greek, the two children had trouble adapting to their Aunt's full-blooded Greek ways, which included worship of the ancient gods and goddesses like Zeus and Athena. A practice vastly different from the Islamic views they were brought up on by their mother.
As culturally divided as Cyprus itself, Demetrios was especially conflicted when it came to balancing the two religions. More so than his young sister who could care less at three years old. Surrounded by Islams in his day to day life in Kyrenia and Deity Worship at home, he found it much too unsettling to take on either religion after such a short time after his parent's deaths. So, for much of his younger years and following teenage years, he ignored both.
Instead he turned his focus onto his education, ruling out both the pain of losing his parents and the confusion brought on by religion. Graduating from a local high school in Kyrenia, he looked to a higher form of education in college. He attended the University of Cyprus in Nicosia, majoring in Psychology with a minor in World History. It was his intention to graduate and become a Psychologist, however some unfortunate events in his life led him to drop out prematurely before he could get a degree. He returned to Kyrenia defeated and lived with his sister for awhile, working low-end jobs whilst falling in and out of depression.
Having always been emotionally unstable since the death of his parents, Demetrios around this time was almost always depressed. He often felt emotionally detached from society, a recluse who spent most of his time either at home or at work. He had very few friends, and those who were had begun to avoid him and his downtrodden demeanor. Around this time he had decided it was time for a change in his life. He needed to get out of Cyprus and travel abroad.
Taking what he had been saving for roughly five years after dropping out of college, he boarded a boat to Greece. He had never quite taken on the views of his Aunt in the aspect of Greek religion, but he found the country quite interesting. He picked up quite a bit of knowledge in the ways of art and Greek Mythology, and visited many of the ancient ruins. Italy was his second country to visit, where he ended up staying in the city of Venice for two years.
It was a local magician that got him interested in hypnosis, after attending one of his shows where the man was able to put this young woman into a trance like state and make her waltz, although presumably she had not known how to before. Ever so curious as to the enigma of this possibly false means of placing suggestions onto people, Demetrios approached the magician after his show. Of course the man was not going to reveal the secret of his act, so after receiving a very vague description, he went to investigate it further.
Hypnotic suggestion, it seemed, was also a widely used medical practice, used to help people quit their addictions through speaking to them in a trance like state. Demetrios found himself quite interested in it, so he went about learning how to do it for roughly a year. But where to go from there? He could apply at a clinic, but that sort of atmosphere did not interest him. It was around that time when he learned of an opening for a hypnotist in the circus Cirque Du Maleficum. A wayward step in terms of jobs perhaps, but it was the sort of surreal atmosphere he had been looking for at the time. It took a long while to track the traveling circus down, but he did so in hopes of starting over with a new name and face, as Tempus the Hypnotist. &&_Likes;; History - The stories of the past are one of the best things to learn in preparing for the future. One of his most treasured memories is visiting the Kyrenia Castle when he was a child with his parents. Old-Fashioned Things - He doesn't quite know where he picked up his love for vintage things, but he collects a wild multitude of artifacts from years past. Usually small things, like brooches, pins, and knick-knacks. Music - Who doesn't love music? Particularly of the Classical variety. Beethoven and Mozart are two of his favorites. Traveling - He's been in quite a few places, but he'd like to be everywhere at least once. Culture - Although he cannot discern what he is between being both Turkish and Greek, he finds culture to be extremely interesting. If not frightening in some cases.
&&_Dislikes;; Fire - For obvious reasons. He has a bit of phobia. He'll likely disappear during most of the acts where fire is involved. Religion - He doesn't know if he dislikes it entirely or not, but rather it's just one of those things he can't wrap his head around. Politics- Growing up somewhere as divided as Cyprus just about anyone would hate politics.
