A cold, callous, and calculating sort of man, Kiel is generally an introvert. He detests others poking their noses into his personal affairs immensely, and will avoid if he can, all manner of social events involving other people. Most chock it up to him simply being anti social, but it delves a bit deeper than that really. Even before being turned, he has always possessed very heavy predatory instincts. He prefers to watch people from a distance instead of actually speaking to them. Waiting for an opportunity to prey on those with vulnerable dispositions. The easy prey he can pick off from the back of herd so to speak. He's heavily sadistic, so naturally he tends to enjoy playing with his food before he eats.

Now with a personality type like Kiel's, you might expect some degree of abuse or neglect in his life. But the truth is, Kiel has never had any of that before in his family. Born into a comfortable environment, with two functioning parents, Kiel's life has been so normal up till now that he couldn't stand it. The driving force behind why the boy sought out becoming a vampire. You see, he was never satisfied with being "normal", so he tried to find ways to elude that label, extensively. He became fascinated with various murder case files from his father's work. Where victims would be found dead in alleyways with no personal affects missing but every ounce of their blood. Humans, having always been oblivious to the existence of vampires, assumed it was simply some sort of psychopath.
After all, it was only crazy people who believed in that fairytale stuff right?
Kiel could not be so sure, so he chose to investigate them further. Perhaps out of admiration of the killer? Or how this person could leave no trace of DNA or finger prints? Partly. But mostly to sate this own curiosity and love for mysteries.
Since the attacks had all taken place around the same region of the city he lived in and at about the same time. He went out one night in hopes of finding this ever so elusive murderer.
Which did indeed happen not too long after he began walking around a few of the murderer's hot spots. It would have nearly cost him his life too, if he hadn't of spoken up before the vampire tried to feed from him. It was there that he requested the stranger to turn him, and afterward disappeared "never to be found again". Until mysteriously he resurfaced at the school that is.
