↑Jin-Lan and Jun-Li↑
.::.{I}] shouldn't tell you this but.::.
Opposite personalities are common amongst identical twins they say...
One may be a star student, while the other struggles.
Or one is more socially accepted, while the other gets picked on.
They seem so black and white that it is hard for them to believe they are even related, which often raises the statement,
"You look like me, but we are nothing alike."
Jun-Li is the "perfect" twin, coveted by their parents and probably the more functioning, realistic one of the two. He is a hard-worker with an iron will, who is not afraid to speak his mind when he has to. However, he is overtly stubborn and terribly closed-minded. He has to be in order to devote his mind entirely to the things he does. Due to being pushed more by their father, he has a solid belief that he has to be "flawless" in everything he does and will often push himself to the brink of exhaustion if his brother or someone else does not step in to stop him. He has a need to impress people which is both his greatest attribute and his biggest flaw. But inside, he is quite vulnerable and weak, a fact which he knows and protects by being extremely sensitive and short-fused.
Jin-Lan on the other hand is someone who has never been afraid to show his emotions. Labeled the "cry baby" of the two brothers when they were younger, he has grown up knowing the more affectionate side of their family due to their mother. Since Jun-Li was always being molded into their father's "perfect son", Jin-Lan was often left to the side where his mother taught him most of the things he knows. He understands people, he sympathizes. And due to this he has always been more socially accepted than his brother, who was too obsessed with father's expectations to care. However, due to this freedom Jin-Lan has had, he has also never really learned the difference between what is right and what is wrong. He became the delinquent of the two boys, about the only thing which got him a little light in his father's eyes. But it was never in a positive sense, since he was constantly being punished. Jin-Lan is quite lazy; the procrastinator amongst the two. He has never held a job for more than a few months, and has yet to set his mind to much of anything. He doesn't have to since things come quite naturally to him. The lackadaisical, calm twin, Jin-Lan is often very forward and persuasive, and although he envies his brother in a lot of ways, he knows that without him Jun-Li would fall to pieces.
"One can't exist without the other."
oOo[N]ot that's any of your business but oOo
Both boys were born in China, in a strictly traditional Chinese family. Their father was a rough and tough Police officer, and their mother-before their birth- a nurse. They lived an average middle-class life, and attended school at a normal public high school. On the outside, it seemed everything was quite alright. The boys were happy, and so was their family. But sometimes things are not always what they look like on the outside. Inside, one of the boys were struggling, a heavy weight placed on him from birth. Father's expectations were beginning to get to him, as every midterm came back to him filled with bad grades and guilt. And what was worse, his brother was so much better than him at everything; excelling in his grades, and making lots of friends. Because they were brothers, that other brother decided he was going to lie to their father to help the struggling brother, so they started switching reports. Jin-Lan would get in trouble while Jun-Li was praised for the work he didn't do, adding to the guilt which slowly built up inside him. The last straw was cut when midterms came back revealing Jun-Li was failing everything, and once again Jin-Lan took the blame. But this time father was especially angry at his supposed "useless" son, and struck him for the first time. Jin-Lan never muttered a word about their deception, and because of this, Jun-Li felt terrible. He decided to end the torment for his brother, and that night he began plotting ways to kill himself. Hanging a vacuum wire from the rafters of their room, he attempted to kill himself that night. But before he lost consciousness, his brother found him. He awoke to Jin-Lan sobbing over him, repeating over and over how stupid he was for doing such a thing. He told him how badly he felt for allowing him to take the blame, however Jin-Lan merely shook his head and told him, "That's what brothers do." Shortly after, they devised a way to escape from their father through the Circus as runaway twin contortionists, and that's where they've been for the last five years of their lives.
