The AfterStuff of D Kyzer
I guess it SHOULD be afterMATH, but math bores me. Stuff is cool. This is a place where my insanity goes. (Or at least some of it.) There may be a little bit of quotable thinking here, but those moments will probably be few and far between.
Popularity
Yay! According to the comments on my last entry, people are reading my journal. And commenting. People are welcome to comment. Anyway, I wanted to say thanks. I had totally forgotten about my journal, but the Gaia Admin lady took a big hammer and bashed me in the head yelling, "YOU'VE GOT A NEW COMMENT IN YOUR JOURNAL!" So, to those of you that are new to this place...

[insert vaguely interesting theme music]
Welcome to the AfterStuff! Please let me know if you want me to give my opinion on something. I hate it when people go "OMG!!!UR SO AWEXOME N FUNNY!!!!11!ONE!!!UNO!!!ELEVEN!!!I ONLY SAID THIS BECAUSE YOU SAID YOU HATED THIS!!!TEH LOLZ!!" I like comments. I like compliments. I wouldn't mind a little constructive criticism and that's all that I feel like saying right now on that subject.

And now to the part that people might actually be able to learn something from...
Popularity isn't really worth having. At least not to me anyway. Everyone has their friends. Even the people without friends. Like my imaginary enemy Shteve. He ate my bagel. I don't really like bagels, but he still ate it and it was still mine. Popularity is supposed to be about how many people you have that enjoy your company, but it always gets messed up somewhere. I find that the most popular kids in my school tend to be quite annoying and have huge superiority complexes.
(Is that even real? Stop talking, Shteve!) I've accidentally reached semi-popular range. I still hang out with my unpopular friends, and the popular kids see me doing this, but they don't care. If anyone else hangs out with the unpopular kids, the popular kids laugh and point fingers. They are then dropped to the same level of the kids they hung out with. (Wheeee! 2 trillion foot drop.) I don't really like being semi-popular. People know me and I don't know them. I feel like I'm being... broadcasted live throughout the school. "Hey, did you see that Kyle kid?" "Yeah! I talked to him on last week's episode." To all of you unpopular kids, POPULARITY IS OVERRATED. You get to stand next to the kids who hide their zits with half a ton of cream and complain about there not being enough cute people at the school. No matter where you are, somewhere else sounds better. The transition is the hard part. I just ran out of things to say. Now, if there's anything that my journal readers want to hear my opinion on, just tell me.

[Edit: SHTEVE! YOU ATE MY BAGEL! Okay, now that that's out of the system, I just wanted to say that I'm pretty surprised that nobody's commenting. Anyone who sees this is permitted to comment. And one thing I wanted to add....

Haha, so true. I think popularity makes an ego grow bigger as well. As for me, I am not popular at all. Well, at least I don't think so. A lot more people I don't even know might know me at school.

I want to meet your imaginary enemy Shteve! But he better not touch my bagels!

Anyways, I too, apparently, have become semi-popular and it, for the most part, unnerves me. At school, people know me before I even see their faces and randomly add me on things like MySpace. I don't much care for the attention; I'd rather just talk to people who I find interesting to talk to. It's always nice to find someone with vaguely similar opinions on this whole popularity deal. And now, all that's left is to leave to a different school. *flee!*

I completely understand where you're comming from on this. My school has this type of thing as well, but also, we have the popular kids that aren't really popular, as I'm sure you do. These are the types of kids that no one quite knows why they are popular. For example, we have a boy in our school who is gay and has a lazy eye, yet people worship the ground he walks on and wonder "why?" And it may not seem like it, but the fact that he's gay and popular is a huge shocker. In my school 98% is homophobic. The only real conclusion I've come to with this is they subconsiously feel sorry for him and so that brings out feelings of empathy, therefore, creating a false sense of popularity. I can't say for sure if my deduction is accurate ir not and a second oppinion would be appreciated. Oh yeah, I was supposed to tell you Xx_EviLVaMPreSs_xX told me to come here. I'm not so sure if the purpose but I did as I was told.

Wow. What you say is true. Very true.

I am popular at school, but in England its really different that it is in America. As everyone knows everyone. We're all friends and we all get along. Yeah, we occasionally have our spats and all outs, but thats what friends do.
What people really have to do is make friends with everyone, as what I do. If I have a fall out with one group of friends I can go to the other one and hang out with them. But they dont mind, as we all hang out together anyway, but I have a stronger bond with the group that I fall back on than I do with the ones I argue with.

Being popular really doesnt mean anything to me, as it wont get you anywhere in life. Yeah, so what if you have the most friends and good looks. Are they going to help you get high in life? No, they're ot. Yet people still seem to think that being popular is the best achievement that you can get. And its pathetic. It really is.
