I smoothed out the front of my black and red dress. My white curls falling into my face. My breathing came out in fragments. It wasn’t my first year but now everything was changing and I was more nervous than ever. My mom flittered into the room wearing her normal queen gown with blue trimming matching her eyes. I gave her a big hug as she held my head to her chest. The tears wouldn’t hide.
“Oh baby. It’s going to be just fine. You’re going to see all your friends and live your life as you’re supposed to. “
“But I’m going to miss you. And brother.”
“We are going to be fine. He is going to train to be the prince as you will be trained for your royal spot as well. Soon we will see you again.”She looked at me with her silver eyes sparkling.
“Where is he? He promised to be here. I won’t leave without him.” I sighed, this was so like him. Always missing important days that meant a life time to someone.
“He is probably out fighting a huge battle. Would you rather have him save this world or say goodbye to you on your way to training?”
“Saying goodbye.” I marched up to my room and slammed the door. I fell onto my bed crying. He was never around. But when he was he spent hours with me outside, talking about our life’s. I had only met him during the beginning of the summer. He always brought me gifts, like my mom that always gave me hugs. I had guessed It was because they are trying to make up for not being there through my life. Honestly, I can’t remember any of my life before I was ten.
I remembered my life, sobbing into my pillow. I didn’t hear the door creak open or shut again, but I knew it did. “Go away!” I yelled to my mom.
My double bedroom doors flew open, pedals floating into my room mixed with confetti.”Well I could leave if you want me to but I thought you wanted to see me.” I got off the bed and ran to my brother leaning on the door frame.
“No. Please don’t go. Ever.”
“I would ask the same for you but you need to train. Your off to the academy again. I hope you don’t choose to stay.” He laughed then leaned down to look me in the eyes. “Promise me you will take care of yourself?”
“Only if you do.” I gave him a sneaky grin.
“That’s my girl.” He ruffled my hair, knowing how much it annoys me. I walked over to my makeup table, trying to fix my new tangled mess. He walks over to me and clips a necklace around my neck. . It was a black chain with a bat on the end. It had a red glistening jewel in the middle. “It’s a gift. So you remember me. But you can’t let anyone know you have it. Understand?”
“Yes brother.”
“Good.” He kissed my neck then my cheek. “Now you don’t want to be late. Go on.” He grabbed my hand and led me down to the coffin on the ground. “This was sent by the academy. Apparently it teleports or something. Don’t open the door until it’s there. I will miss you.” We hugged while my mom came in. I smiled to her than hugged her.
“Have fun dear and don’t forget to contact us.” She helped me into the coffin and I lay down. They shut the door and the whole coffin shook. I took a ragged breath then shut my eyes.
It was a long time after when I awoke. The coffin was completely still. I creaked open my eye to see all black. I lifted my hand to the dark velvet covering. After another deep breath I cracked the door. The light was blinding. It stung my eyes, making me drop the top. “Ow.” I rubbed my eyes before trying to open the lid again. The light didn’t hurt so badly this time. I stood up and fixed my mini dress with the red velvet trimming. My white hair was now in tangles. “Well that’s terrific. Just perfect.” I take my hair out of its messy bun and let the curls bounce on my shoulder. My knee high boots squeaked as I crept across the room. The walls were a gray concrete, the floor white tile. A small pond sat in the corner. I used it to fix my hair back in place. I smiled in pleasure.
There was a small whisper echoing around the room, calling my name. It got louder and louder. I cringed back into the wall, which turned out to be unnecessary. Just as soon as the voice came it was gone again. Another thing said my name. But it was not a whisper, yet a shout. I looked down the hall to see all my friends running like bullets at me. I got up and rant to them at the same speed. The impact of all of them made me fall to the ground. It did not hurt much but I was laughing with them. After we had a dose of hysterics I sat up. Staring at the girls I asked “so how was your summer?” They both shrugged. “You must have done something!”
“I went on a few missions but stayed here most of the summer.” Shadow said, playing with her midnight black pigtailed hair. I looked at her black strapless mini dress, to her knee high black converse.
“I bet you were.” I said to myself and laughed. Skull and Shadow laughed at this too.
“What can I say, I love what I do.” She shrugged and turned to Skull.
“I robbed a bank.” She said her black eyes sparkling. She was wearing a pink belly shirt and black skin tight jeans, her hair half pink half black. “Just kidding. No, I tried to go to ‘real’ school. I was like whatever. Then I got suspended in three days.”
I sighed. This was so classic Skull. “What did you do now?”
“Well, I met a few power people and was trying to teach them about it when I destroyed the school.” She gave me her best angel face.
“You found a powerful? Did you bring them back?”
“Yes, yes. When the gatherers came to get me, they got them too. Their starting as freshmen.”
“Aren’t they as old as us?” Shadow asked, now interested in our conversation.
“But they have no knowledge of powers.” Skull asked irritated that we didn’t know this. “I asked if we could teach them but they refused.”
“Unless…” They both turned and stared at me. I tilted my head in confusion. “The princess requests it.”
I shake my head. “No way. I am not going to use my royalty unless super important.”
“This is super important! I want to see my friends!” Skull whined, throwing a fit. She slammed her fists into the ground, causing it to crack. Me nor shadow were surprised by this act. Every time she got upset she would cry and pout. But what surprised us the most was when one moment she was sobbing, the next completely silent. “Did you see that?”
“What?” Shadow asked looking around.
I listened. I heard my name being whispered through the walls. Something in the back of my vision flickered. I spun around but nothing was there. “I think I saw it that time too.”
“What are you guys talking about?” Shadow asked, shaking me.
“A monster.” Skull whispered. “Gem, let’s go to our room.” We nodded and started walking. None of us talked the whole way. I barely noticed the cold castle hallways, the groups of students marching up the spiral staircases, or groups of new students whispering excitedly with their just made friends.
I sat on my old bunk bed in the girls’ dorm house. “Well, what can we do about it?” I whispered, not looking at the others.
“Nothing.” I looked up at Shadow. “There’s nothing we can do for now. There are always monsters here. I wouldn’t be surprised if another one came here. Just play it cool for now.” We all agreed this was the best choice. “I’m hungry. Let’s go down and get some food. I smelled noodles!” We all ran down there laughing. Our normal table was empty. I sat down while the others got something.
The doors flew open and everyone turned to look. Six people came in, the waters. Aquarius in the front her backups behind her and her brother glued to her side. They walked right past every table but stopped where I was sitting.
“Aren’t you going to eat, Gem?” Aqua asked the only nice one of that group.
“No.” Aquarius answered for her, “her mom said she couldn’t be such a pig.” They laughed and walked away. I looked at Aqua who wasn’t laughing, but staring at me with her big blue eyes.
I didn’t do anything, just stared at the table. Shadow and Skull were over at my side in a second, stroking my hair and whispering into my ear. I didn’t need encouraging. I dealt with this my whole life. Rain shook his head, but Mist just tensed. Ice had disappeared the second he was through the door.
The door opened again and the dark boys came through the door. Moon, the most popular guy in school, followed by Night and Dusk. Dusk sat next to Shadow after a long kiss that the guys got on him for. Shadow sat on the other side of his sister.
“Hey Moon,” Aquarius yelled across the room, “come sit by me. I saved a spot.” I glanced at the girl with royal blue hair, the same color eyes, and the tinniest skirt I have ever seen. Her shirt didn’t hide much either and by the looks, she was purposely not wearing her bra. If any guy I know was asked by Fake Boobs to go sit over there, he wood.
“No thanks.” He replied, getting a room filled with gasps and murmurs. Then he walked over and sat in-between me and his sister, Skull.” Everyone was staring, but I was staring at the table. He looked at me, “you okay? Why aren’t you eating?”
“Because I don’t want to look like a pig.” I said, he looked at his sister who explained the incident of the past few minutes.
“Aquarius is just a stupid girl who needs to learn her place.” He whispered in my ear. “I was stupid not to realize it before, but I saw it this summer.
“What?” I asked. He laughed, the table was listening to our conversation. “I was out this summer and saw her on the beach. She was on her knees begging this guy something. ‘Maybe she realized something’ I thought. But it hit me, she will never learn.” He sighed. We all looked over to Aquarius, glaring at me. “Smile and wave, watch what it does.” So I did that. She scowled and turned back to her food.
“Amazing.” I mumbled.
“Well she feeds on hurt.” He answered. But I didn’t say anything else since he started shoving his mouth with food. It was rubbery eggs and an english muffins. Rain ran over and threw an egg at Moon. Moon threw it at one of the younger kids.
“FOOD FIGHT!” someone yelled. I pulled Shadow under the table.
“They couldn’t last one day?” I whispered. It was unnecessary over all the noise. I scooted to the edge. “I see a dragon, I’ll go capture them.” I ran out, dodging the good with my trained reflects and jumped on the girls back. It was Scale, my fighting partner. I gripped her small chipped horns and dragged the human girl back to our table. I slid her under. I ran around the tables as eggs zoomed pass my head. I ran up to moon. “Who’s the objective?”
“The dragons are scale, water is Ice and grass is Pedal.” I looked for the average height girl with the long straight green hair and green eyes. “To my left.” I looked where he was pointing to see the girl dodging every single food particle. I ran straight at her before I jumped over her shoulders and knocked her down from the back. I dragged her to the table.
“You guys seen Ice?” I asked the three.
“Already captured by the grass.” Pedal hissed.
I got up and stood on the table. I found the guy leaning on the wall. People must have thought he wasn’t even in this. I walked over to him. “Hey.” I said, leaning next to him.
“What do you want?”
“I was wondering why I never see you talking to people.”
“Princess, with all due respect, I don’t like it here.”
“But it’s your home, Ice. Do you have anywhere else to go?”
“No, Princess.”
“Call me Gem.” I was expecting his answer. Most of the children here are orphans since their parents got killed for having powers. Or something along those lines. Each parent is different. Those who have them are very lucky. The academy used to be my only home, I was an orphan for most of my life till my mother was freed and told me.
“Gem, why are you nice to me?”
“You never did any harm to me. I will never do any harm to you.”
“So were like friends now?”
“Yup. Now I hate to do this but you’re going to have to follow me. I have to take you prisoner to win the game.” He followed me without another word. I sat him down under the table while the buzzer rang.
The head came out. “Job well done! Our winning team is the darks!” He pointed his hand to our table. No one clapped. “For their hard work and persistence, fifty points. In second place, the waters, scoring twenty points.” Everyone clapped. Except the darks. “Good job to all of you. The darks are in charge of cleaning the mess.” The old professor flung the huge wooden doors open as he left. Kids were giddy as they left, talking about their plans of the next fight. I went to the closet and got out the cleaning supplies. We were put in charge of this job all our lives.
“Gem, sit there on the table. You don’t have to clean since you got the win. Tell us your great tale of a victory. To Gem!” Moon expressed.’
Everyone replied with a “here here!” So I sat up on the table where there was no food and looked at the people working.
“It isn’t even that exciting. But okay. So someone called out foodfi-” I was cut off.
“Not this battle. The battle where you’re going to defeat Aquarius.” Now I realized he was trying to come up with a battle strategy.
“Okay. So this is what we are going to do.”
By the time I was back at my room it was well past dark. We were laughing about how we thought of the expression on Aquarius’s face would be. I went to bed around eleven when we were supposed to be out by eight. My mind was crowded though. I thought of my brother and my mom, how they must miss me. My friends and Moon. Did he like me? I wasn’t sure. I couldn’t get my hopes up could I? This life is too risky, I might die any day. Romance isn’t in the picture right now. Plus, what about that monster? It was calling my name. I had to figure out what that was. I thought about this for a while then let my mind wander into a dark, dreamless sleep.
I woke to the sound of chatter. I cracked on eye to see five young girls surrounding my bed. “Who are you?” I asked. They all stared then started giggling. “Oh. I get it. What joke did they play on me now?”
One girl wearing her uniform already came up to me. “I wanted to see Skull. My friends came to see the princess. Where is she?” One of the dragon girls nudged the girl with black hair and black eyes.
“No, its not me.” I lied. “Go down the hall, three doors to the left. But I think shes with the principle right now.”
“Thanks!” They all shuffled out the door.
I got up and slid the uniform on. It was a white knee length skirt with white knee high socks and a white short-sleeve button up blouse. I put my hair into a ponytail and ran to class. When I was there Skull had saved me a seat. Her brother behind her. I sat at the table as quietly I could.
“Madam Gem, you are late.” The professor said not turning from the chalk board. “Do not think I will give you any special privileges.” I didn’t say anything. The teacher was writing things about graphs and functions. “Lets not have it happen again. Now, can anyone tell me how to tell a function from the plots on the graph?” I raised my hand. She called on me and I answered the question right. Moon tapped my arm then handed me a note.
You were so close to being in trouble. He wrote.
Who covered? I passed the note back silently. Still answering the teachers questions right.
She walked over to me. I heard a swallow from behind. She walked back up to the classroom with the small paper in her hand. She read the note over. “Moon managed to save you this time. This is a good example to the younger students.” There was only about three in the small classroom. “No note passing. I will talk to you after class Moon.”
After class I walked into the hall, Skull by my side. “Sorry about that.” She whispered. Night came up to her. “Hey Night.” She started to blush. She’s had a crush on him for years.
“See you in class.” I uttered. I walked off down the hall. It seems everyone has a guy but me. Ice came up to my side then. I forgot he was even in my next class. “Hey Ice. What’s up?”
He pulled me into the other hall and kissed me. It only lasted a second before he pulled away. He was sobbing. I hugged him. He hugged me back, crying into my shoulder. “I can’t take this.”
“You can tell me anything. It’s alright.”
He looked at me, his crystal light eyes bearing into mine from under his midnight blue hair. He leaned in next to my ear. “I’m gay.” He whispered so light I could barely hear it. I stared back at him my eyes wide. He took a deep breath, wiped the tears then took my hand. “We’re going to be late for class. Come on.” He dragged me to the gym. The boys’ uniforms were white collar dress shirts with a black tie and black dress pants.
This year the whole grade -only twenty four people- shared a single gym class. All the dragons were in their monster forms and in a row. People were in the fighting uniforms and saddled up. I changed into the leather armor, helmet, and bra-top. Keeping the skirt but adding my sword. I wrapped my black cloak around me and nodded to Skull who also just got dressed. We saddled up on Scale, now the great black dragon, waiting for our commands.
“The objective is easy, get everyone prisoner that’s left and not on your team. The team with the most prisoners at the end wins. No forbidden powers, blah blah blah. Okay go!” We took off into the sky, half of the class on the ground. Someone started shooting bows at us. It was hard for such a large beast to dodge them in the court size room.
“I’ll get them.” Skull stated right before she jumped. I knew she would be fine, she was a great diver. I rode around, dodging the fireballs, spells, and occasional arrows. I stood up, trying to keep my balance as I walked back to the tail. I waited for the moment then jumped on the other dragons back. I could tell it was wing because of the petite size. All she could carry was one person that happened to be Vine. I knocked her off quickly with my elbow. I heard a few yells but those could barely be heard over the sound of rushing water. There was a whirlpool following us. I pulled a sword from the saddles side pouch and hurled it at the whirlpool. It did nothing. Scale came over and shot a puff of fire at it but the water swarmed toward me. I looked at the panicked white dragon. I couldn’t let her get hurt. Carefully, I climbed to the tip of her tail. Without a second thought my body threw itself into the water headfirst. I fell unconscious.
The first I realized when I came to was that someone was holding my hand. The next thing I noticed is that meant people are here. I realized I was lying down in a bright room. I heard a sigh that I knew belonged to a girl. I heard I fight in the other room.
“Squeeze my hand if you hear me.” The voice was unfamiliar but filled with worry. I squeezed the hand to ease their stress. “Guys! She’s up!” The voice said, to loud for my ears. I opened my eyes. There was a small circle of people around me. Skull, Shadow, Ice, Moon, Scale, Wing, and Aquarius. I stared at her, so many emotions shooting through my body. She was the one holding my hand. I scoweled, griping the hand so tight she fell on her knees.
“She’s on my side.” Moon whispered. His face inches from mine. I stared at him with curiosity. Why was he here? He was the most popular guy in the school, he had people to hang with. That’s when it hit me, he liked me. He didn’t like me though, he liked my royalty. His hand rubbed my face and I bit it. I saw the blood seep through it as he cursed under his breath. I let go and licked my lips. “What was that for?”
“Getting me to care about you.” I whispered. Aquarius laughed at this and I scowled at her. “What are you doing here? Don’t you have some slaves to make fun of?”
She grimaced. “I’m sorry.”
“Not buying it.” I said, getting my voice back.
“That’s what I said.” Skull told me. She helped me sit up. I looked around to see I was in the nurse’s room. “She said how she changed and all of this nonsense. I don’t buy any of it. I say we kick her out.”
“Let me talk to her.” Everyone left but Moon and Ice. “Ice can stay; I don’t even want to talk to you.” I scowled at the white haired boy. He left after a second. “You can have him. He just wants me for my royal title.
“Can we be honest here?”
“Of course.”
“Allot of people will only see you for that. Not Moon. He’s too genuine. He really loves you Gem. I don’t see why you think so poorly of yourself.”
I let the sarcasm seep into my voice. “Trust me; you had nothing to do with it.” Following with an eye roll.
“I really am sorry for all of that. Besides, I’m expelled. I’m going to go help with the secret ninja group. I got an offer a few years back. I came here to say bye.”
“So it was you! Well you deserve whatever punishment you got. Have fun as a freaking no-one.” I rolled over.
“I’m sorry.” She whispered. She walked slowly over to the door. “For everything.” She left.
I stared at the wall. What was going to happen to the school now? I got up and went to my room. There was a note on my bed.
You are probably going to hate me forever. You are the queen bee now. Give my girls the kindness I never could. You will be a lot better for this school. And this world. You will always save the day. To your last breath.
I put the note on the bed and looked out the window. A whole castle was in front of me. I was the leader of it. Now it is my test. The girls sliced the chain of the door and burst in. I dropped to the floor. They picked me up and flung me on my bed. “The school is ours. She’s gone.”
“So we heard. Well, if you can do this you can sure rule a kingdom.” Shadow stated.
“Ya. So I realized.” I got up and looked out the window. It was cloudy, the sun starting to set. “When is our next field trip?” Every month we have a field trip. In the spring it would be to the zoo, summer we would go to the beach, winter gift stores, and in the fall, we would all cause havoc shopping for new clothes to wear on our missions and other field trips. How do a bunch of orphans pay for such? Well we all get money from the school when we complete missions.
“Next week. We’re going to the mall!” We all let out a little girly cry of joy. “I’m going to get something ninja.” Shadow stated, sneaking around the room.
“Well I want something girly.” Skull looked around at us. “Neh.” We chuckled. “I just want to crash the mall. Maybe pick something cute along the way, save a hot guy, the usual.”
I shook my head. “I want to get a gift for my mother. Something to tell her I’m okay.”
“What about for yourself? A bikini for the summer? A sword? Come on!” Skull shook my arm. “You have to get something for yourself. We each just got fifty dollars!”
“It was total. And besides, I think it’s nice she wants to get something not for herself.” The gothic girl eyed the punk one in a way of total disgust.
“Anyone hungry?” I asked grapping my friends arms and dragging them down to the lunchroom. My stomach growled. I didn’t know how long it’s been since I ate. Stuffing down the powdered mash potatoes and steamed broccoli without a single doubt. It must have been early. No one was here. I got up and dumped my food in the garbage can. When I sat back down, the others were just finishing up. I grabbed an apron and put it on. Walking over to the radio, I crank the volume on after I find my favorite channel. We grab the cleaning supplies as we sing and dance to our favorite songs. The lunchroom was still coated from lunches in the past. I scrubbed the food off of the walls while Skull got the tables, and Shadow swept up the floor. We were all done with our own task at the same time. “MOPPING TIME!” I slipped on the brush shoes. After stepping in the soap bucket I slid across the floor. The two other dark girls were right on my trail. We twirled and slid around the tables. Whenever one of us was about to fall, someone would be by our side, grabbing us.
Right when the floors had dried and we were arranging the tables back, the door swung open, letting in the first years. In the kitchen was a just cooked casserole. We served it to every single child, answering questions the kids asked us. The last student was Skulls friend.
“Hey, Leila. What can I do for you?” Skull asked, placing another bin of casserole in the loading area.
“It’s Midnight now.” She smiled proudly. “Oh can I have an extra serving? It looks good.”
“You actually trust this stuff? I will give you half an extra. Trust me, this stuff will definitely give you the runs.” The cook coughed from behind her. She blushed and gave a tiny smile. “Oops. I’m glad you got your name already. It fits you.” It really did match her hair and eyes. She handed the tray to her knew friend and watched her walk away. “It isn’t fair. She should be with us. They probably won’t even place her in a warrior group, she’s so old.”
“There’s plenty of different aged first years. She’s where she needs to be. Trust me.”
“I do.” She answered. One of the girls walked up to the counter. “Can I help you?”
“Are you the princess?” The girl was tiny, probably ten. She had pink curly hair and tiny silver horns sprouting. Her silver eyes sparkled at me.
“Yes I am. My name is Gem, what’s yours?” I smiled at the girl, she grinned back.
“Silvercrown. It’s a really long name but they thought it fit.”
“Who did?”
She pointed to the group of girls all staring at her. “My new friends. They dared me to come talk to you.”
“Oh. I get it now.” I smiled and waved at them. They all blushed and turned to their food. “Well, Silvercrown, you accomplished your mission. Good job. I have to get back to work now, good luck.” I patted her shoulder, still smiling. She ran over to her roommates. I watched her for a minute then returned to my work. Once I popped the next loads off casserole in, their dinner was over. A set over grass girls came over to relieve us during our dinner. The waters were the first ones in. They ran right over to me.
“Hey Gem!” Aqua said, grinning. She hugged me. I showed a fake smile then sped over to my table.
“What was that about?”Shadow asked.
“I have no idea.” Ice came over and sat next to me. “Hey Ice, shouldn’t you be at that table?”
“We don’t have to sit like that anymore. Aquarius used to make everyone do that.” He stopped talking after that.
Skull leaned over, “are you to an item?”
“No. Just good friends.”
“Since when?” Shadow asked bewildered.
“Since the food fight.” They looked at each other. “Guys I’m not going to leave you for the waters! I am a dark and you are my sisters! Now stop thinking that! I have an idea, help me.” I stood up on the table. “EVERYONE AGAINST THE WALLS!” Once everyone obeyed I took the tables and made them one giant square. We all got to sit together, no underdogs. Everyone was equal now. Everyone was talking to each other while we ate. I didn’t notice the new goth guy leaning against the back wall. His head was down. I walked up and tapped him on the shoulder. He looked at me, his silver eyes flowing with tears. “Moon? What happened to you?”
“I lost the girl of my dreams.” He mumbled.
“Yes, yes, Aquarius will be missed. That doe-” He kissed me. It was filled with so much passion and love I didn’t want it to end. But I didn’t forget his reasons either. I shoved him off me. “Don’t ever do that again.” I hissed.
“You were wrong. I don’t care if your dirt poor or the queen bee. If you’re an orphan or a princess. You’re beautiful, smart, funny, and sincere. I love you, Gem. Why can’t you see that?”
I walked back to my table and sat down. I was furious. My heart was shattered into millions of pieces.
“I know you hear this all the time but he really does love you. He started cutting himself, Gem. He’s told me about suicide! You can’t leave him like that!” Ice stared deep into my eyes.
“Watch me.” I barked.
“At least a guy kissed you.” He mumbled so quietly. I nodded, swallowing. There was so much passion in it. It reminded me of what Aquarius said, too genuine. I looked back at the boy; his hood was down now, showing his ruffled white hair. “Go.” Ice said, staring at me.
I got up. Everyone was quiet. I walked right up to Moon. “Maybe I was wrong.” I said looking down. His finger slid under my chin, lifting my head. He placed a single small kiss on my lips. “Maybe this could work out?”
“Let’s give it a shot.” He kissed me longer this time. The cafeteria broke into whistles and claps. We laughed to each other. Someone slid a chair next to mine, as I dragged him over there. The conversations were about us most of the time but soon carried out to other topics. I saw my roommates glowering at me. “Don’t worry about them.” He whispered. I sighed then tried to look interested in what Mist was talking about. Moon was faking it too. He looked over at me and rolled his eyes. I giggled. At this time people were leaving. When the girls left I ran to catch up with them.
“Hey! Guys wait!” I ran in front of them panting. “What’s wrong?”
“What do you think?” Shadow said. “You’re not anything then you were before you got hit. Now youre putting the tables together? We were doing just fine like we were. Then you go and make friends with Ice? Why didn’t you tell us?”
“Maybe I thought you would be fine.” I spat then stomped off to my room. I got my stuff then walked down the hall. Knocking on the door I thought of what I was going to say.
The door creaked open. “Hello?”
“Hey, can I come in? I kind of got kicked out of my room.” The door opened and I walked inside. All the girls were staring at me. I wiggled my nose, like I do when I’m nervous. “So I was wondering if I could stay here.” The black haired girls ran up and hugged me. “Hey Leaf. How is it going?”
“It’s going okay. I’m so happy your staying here!” vine, the green pixie haired one slapped Leaf lightly in the arm. “Oh but she has to stay! She is so cool!”
“Hey Gem, can you step out in the hall so we can talk about this?” Pedal asked, her bright green eyes matching her lime hair. She walked and shoved me in the hall before she slammed the door in my face. I was going to have to get used to that if they let me stay. I was the misfit, the teased, unliked, loser. The door cracked open after a long time.
“We decided that after a long vote, it’s to crowded for you. So…ya. Goodnight, Gem.” Vine said before she slammed the door.
I got up and went a few more doors down to the door covered in keep out posters. The door was open, the girls sitting on a bed talking to each other. They looked up at me.
“Well, that was later than I expected.” Ripple eyed me, scanning my worthyness. “Come set your stuff down.” She patted the area next to her.
