• Update: June/09/10:
I'm putting off a second chapter for a while, I'm currently working on StarCraft: Ashes Amongst Bones, check it out!

The year is 2031. The story takes place with 2 survivors in the post-apocalyptic world, stuck in the middle of the former Russia, heading towards one of the most heavily zombie populated areas in the world in order to reunite with his brother, who supposedly have his younger sister with him.

Chapter One: "Hello, My Name is Mop."

"Mop," the shifting darkness motioned me forward, "Mop, I think we have some infected in the building."

I sniffed the air. Yes there were definitely infected inside the warehouse. I bounced up from the rubbled car, and glanced inside the massive box warehouse, the gaping hole in the side giving me clear view inside. There were only three of them. They seemed to be surrounding a dead dog, having a little family dinner. It made me laugh.

"Hey, you ready for this?" Rudder, my best friend since kindergarten looked at me. His eyes were just as weary as mine were from staying up throughout the night hearing the blood-thirsting screeches outside, rambling down the streets. We were just as hungry as the infected were. "Weapons up and ready," he ordered.

I laughed again at the dark joke he made, since all we had were a baseball bat and a threatening looking 2x4 piece of wood.. I lifted my stick and nodded.

He smiled, "Well let's go get 'em."

I was the first to jump up from cover. I smacked my 2x4 on the wall, getting their attention. "Well ladies and gentlemen, looks like we're gonna have a dinner and show for you guys."

Rudder chuckled, "Well I just hope we aren't the dinner part."

The three infected turned towards us and started in a heavy sprint. One was a little girl, with dark black hair and a look like a beaten up dog. I winced as she reminded me of my sister. The reminiscent image burst as Rudder swung his bat into her skull, blood flowing out of the impact point, and the girl crumpled tot he ground, like a candle with no flame. The other two were plain flat out ugly. Their jaws were distorted, and constantly hinged, and unhinged. Their faces sagged and then they kept spitting and drooling. I quickly dropped my board on them, then brought up my scarf to wipe the blood. They dropped to the ground and my work was done. I was panting heavily, and despite the cold, sweat was seeping out of me. I shook my head trying to lose the adrenaline which was making my head pound. I looked up at Rudder who was watching me strangely. I finally asked, "What?"

"Don't freeze up next time." He paused. "You're only 14, don't go crazy."

He knew just as much as I did of the resemblance the girl made to my sister. We all lost people in the Pandemic. Rudder had to watch his own mother turn, and try to kill him. His closest girlfriend died along our journey from exhaustion the day before we found an empty grocery store. My single mother killed herself rather then try to kill me. She left me with my uncle who instead of keeping me safe, fled the country side, half delirious, half insane. Me and Rudder found ourselves only with one another. That's all we ever needed. Until now. We heard from another group of survivors that Alkine Fields, as infected as it is, has a group of scavengers in the small slum district, managing to stay alive. When they told me of the people they heard of living there, I packed up and headed to Alkine Fields, as did Rudder knowing my exact motive. They listed names, Landon and Sheila, were the only ones on my mind. My brother and sister were out there. I was going to find them.
