• “Max, let’s not get hasty here.” Dylan says and backs away nervously. “No need, I have all the time in the world.” I said nonchalantly “Other than the world ending and stuff.” I walked up to Dylan and said “Now let’s get going.” She scooped him up and pushed him off the ledge of the building. Dylan screamed “What do I do?!” I stood there and acted as if I had just realized that he was talking to her “Flap, You idiot!” “Oh…Right.” He said, feeling stupid. He spread his wings and was just about to hit the ground when he didn’t hit it. He was gliding on the gust of wind that had been in his face just a second ago. “Owwwww,” He grumbled “That hurt.” “Ha-ha! You got it!” I said excitedly. “Now, do you think you can control your wings and fly back up here? Or do I have to come and get you?” He just stared up at her thinking of how to accept that challenge. “You’re on!” He said with that determined look in his eyes. I actually started thinking that she actually liked this perfect half thing. Then she remembered Fang with his dark hair and his dark wings. I was so confused. Then she felt a blast of wind and I opened my eyes because I didn’t even realize that I had closed them. Then I looked up at the sky and Dylan was right there, above her, looking satisfied. “How about that?” He said with a hint of sneer. “Not good enough.” I said and flew up to join him at his side. He looked at her with those deep turquoise eyes and she looked in them, almost pleading for some hint of secret or guilt or even affection, just something in those not so quite empty but lonely eyes. “Dylan,” I said, trying to sound contempt. “I think I’m stuck between two people on a subject that I don’t know very much about at all.” He turned his head, trying to think of course, and then looked back at me. And as I stared into his eyes, I swear I could see a little further into his past than he could ever feel comfortable with. “What’s wrong?” I said with true concern. He just stared off into oblivion. “Dylan,” I said and snapped my fingers in his face, feeling more comfortable without that much concern. “Hello?” He blinked rapidly a few times and responded “Yes?” I stifled a laugh and said “Come on, let’s go find some food.” He nodded and I led the way to the rooftop. I walked toward the door for the entryway to the staircase. Then I gently was spun around by Dylan and he landed a soft peck on my lips, I just stood there… frozen. Then Dylan opened the door and went down the staircase and I blindly followed.
