• I was once a person of worth.I was refined, modest, and quiet like a little princess.I have yet to ever imagine that anything would have ever changed me.At seven, my life seemed perfect, but through the eyes of many seven year old girls everything seems perfect. We have our dolls and clothes to dress the dolls. It was normal then. No matter what happened we would always be happy playing with toys so naively. But even then I would have never thought that I wouldn't be like those seven year old girls. Why was I different? I had the same dolls, the same clothes, the whole nine yards. No matter what I did, I always felt different from them. Out of many girls at the academy that summer I was the only one who felt different.
The academy was a place for young girls to get ahead in life. With proper grammar and the usual snobs. I have been at this academy since I was seven. My life since I have been here has been routine. We have the usual schedual.Wake up at seven then be bathed and dressed by seven thirty. Breakfast is served at eight and immediatly after breakfast is lessons. These lessons were an hour long for each subject. The subjects were the same for everyone. World politics, Chemistry, Grammar, Trigonometry, and Home Economics. It's like the basics of living upgraded to the extreme.Between lessons we have lunch and after lessons are over we spent the rest of the day doing extracurricular activities till dinner. This year I'm supposed to turn 18 on my graduation day. That day I will also meet my parents for the first time in 10 years.I only have one picture of them in our family photo, which I hang on the wall above my bed.It was from when I was seven.
The academy was built with a unique layout. There were 4 buildings in total on the academy grounds. One building was used for dorms, and two other buildings ,that are connected, for classrooms. The other building is still a Mystery to me. Noone ever goes there or even talks about it.The dorm building consisted of 4 floors. The first floor has a cafateria, the baths,a Library and event rooms. They called them event rooms but I would rather have called them something else because events don't usually take place there. If anything I'd call them play rooms. The 3 upper floors were dorm rooms. This academy was full of girls so everything was shared.Everyone had a roommate. Unfortunately I didn't have one anymore because of a very bad incident.
I used to have a roommate named Seth Rider. She was a simple nice girl, at first. After about a month of living here she had gotten a very bad reputation.Seth was a really nice girl until circulated rumors had finally linked themselves to her.She left the academy for that exact reason. I don't really complain though because i like the silence in my room. I was the type of person to stay silent. People who talk too much were subject to rumors all over the academy.I had learned that through many of my used to be friends who are no longer here because of that. Sad to say that I recently have been under stress since I heard that my years of having a room of silence will soon be tainted by someone new. My thoughts at this very moment are; "I hope she isn't annoying", or "I hope she's a mute". These are my first two thoughts followed by many others. I'm laying on my bed looking at the off white ceiling anxiously waiting for the new girl . Hoping with everything i have that she's the silent type. I hear the slight sound of knocking at my door. I take a deep breath and close my eyes.
"Come in...." I say as I open my eyes and start to sit up.
The door opens with a slight creak. I look at the new girl standing in the doorway with a dark red luggage bag. She has dark maroon hair with bright blue eyes. She was really short with old fashioned clothing. She has yet to say a word or even blink for that matter. She looks around the room curiously while clutching the top of her dress.
"Oh do you need help setting up?" I offered kindly.
She glances at the mirror in the corner of my side of the room. She quickly turns away as if she was scared of the mirror. She grabs her luggage and leaves the room closing the door behind her. I stare at the door for about five minutes asking myself what just happened. I glanced out the window to see the maroon haired girl running toward the gates that were starting to close. She reaches the gates just as they close shut. She falls to the ground and watches something outside the gates. Some of the teachers go and help her back to the dorms.
Once again we are back in my room together. I am sitting on my bed as she on hers. I watch her sit on her bed in silence with her luggage still unpacked. This was one of the first times to me that silence was unexpectedly uncomfortable.
"Um.....I'm Skye....Whats your name?" I asked trying to sound casual.Silently she reaches for her luggage and places it on her bed.
"Do you need help?"I ask in hopes for an answer. She shakes her head and continues to unpack.Feeling kinda irritated I put my headphones on and listen to some music while laying back down on my bed.I watch her unpack some of her clothes.I noticed that all her clothes were old fashioned but looked relatively new.Curiously I watched how she kept her glances to a minimal staying focused on unpacking.
"Where are you from?"Again asking in hopes of an answer. She paused.
"...f..r.om.......d....aw..so..n......N..e..bra...ska....."she mumbled as she continued to unpack.
"Oh really? Is it a large city?"I asked, happy that she replied.
    "no..."she replied
    Thinking back I asked,
    "What happened earlier?"
    "....."
Again she fell back into silence.I knew that I hit a bad point and dropped the conversation, scared that she would stay silent. I watched her on and off as she started to finish unpacking. She grabbed her empty luggage and shoved it under her bed then proceeded to organize her clothes into the closet.I tried onced more for her name.
"Um...I don't know if you remember my name but its-"
    "I know......your..Skye..."she replied hastly.
"So you did hear me....then....your name is..?"I said as she walked toward the door.
She opens up the door enough for her to slip through and stops to glance at me.
"A-Aidan..."she says as she leaves the room closing the door behind her.
This was the first time I had been so interested in a person. I wanted to ask her alot of questions but I was too scared that she would stay silent if I said the wrong thing. So I layed down on my bed and pondered about why I was so interested in her.
    "Aidan...hmm..pretty name..."
I had fallen asleep not knowing what the next day would be like.Would it be out of routine?I had started hoping that this year would be different which is odd because I just wanted it to be done with. With that in thought I was also worried about what the year would bring. What will happen? This question unknowing will be answered by someone unexcpected.
