• She had thought that with the blackout she would have gone numb again and become unaware, but she was still leaning into the stranger as he hummed in her ear. Then something brushed her hand. It was soft and familiar. The same thing was also resting on her back. Ashlee could just feel it through her clothes. Whatever that soft thing was, it was all around her. Maybe it was just a dream, or she was imagining things, but a wave of air had brushed over her, and now she could feel heat coming form all around her. Pushing away from him, her back fell into a wall of softness, but through that wall she could feel something hard like bone. For a moment she panicked. Then a sudden familiarity overwhelmed her and she knew she was safe. She was moved into the chair she had noticed earlier, the one that was hidden in the room’s dark corner. Air brush over her, and the boy kneeled in front of her.
“Wh… where… am I?” She asked, finding her voice was much stronger then she could have imagined. Brushing through the ends of her dark brown hair she waited.
Slowly he reached out and took her hands in his own, they where calloused and comforting. He looked her in the eyes and answered with a level voice just above a whisper, “You’re in the infirmary wing. Do you…” He looked away and Ashlee thought she had seen his eyes water, but when he looked at her again his green eyes where clear and strong. She wished her brown eyes could be that beautiful. Quickly she dismissed that thought. Later she could think of such unimportant aspects as her eyes color.
