• I looked out at the flat land all around. It seemed like yesterday I was in New York. Wait...it was yesterday. Well, I would start school in two days, and I did not like it one bit. I was going to go to Southmoore high school.
"Janette, Kaite. Whats wrong?" Mama asked. My name is weird. It is pronounced- jaw-net.
"Mom, you know what is wrong. You dragged us out of New York, just because you want to settle down!" Kaite whined to Mama.
"I am sorry. I would like you all to live with your Dad again."
    "okay" Kaite and I said.
"Just think, all of your old friends would not want you to feel down" Mama said in a happy tone.
"Our old friends care more than new ones would."
"Janette! Do not say that!" Mama said.
"But it is true." I looked up to see Mama's piercingly ice blue eyes staring at me. "I take it back" I sighed. No use going up against Mama.
"Good. Now where is May?" Mama said
"Three miles north then west then go right on the 360 degrees turn and you are there" Kaite said with a smile.
    "Thank you baby" Mama replied.
Kaite and Mama look exactly the same. Long blond hair and ice blue eyes. Kaite had her's up in a high, perfect ponytail, and Mama had her's down. Both were mean, and had no care for anybody in the world. Both were cruel to me, and yet I have to love them. I don't.
I, on the other hand, had short, neck length, black hair, and dark brown eyes. I was 5'9" and I actually do care. I was born December 1st 1992 and so was Kaite. If you can't tell already, Kaite and I are fraternal twins. I always guessed that I was like my Dad, since I look or have anything in common with Mama.
Anyway, we drove until we arrived at the large house. It was a red brick house with a three car garage and a flower garden on the walkway. We all got out and I grabbed my small suitcases and walked into the house. I slowly walked down the hallway and bumped into a tall man. He had short black hair and brown eyes.
"um. Hi. I am Janette. You can call me Jane though. Only Mama calls me Janette."
"Janette. Is that really you?" the man said as he hugged me.
"yes it is. 1) Call me Jane and 2) are you my dad?"
    "Yes, Jane, Yes."
My "dad" hugged me a minute longer, then my Mama ran in.
    "JIM!!!"
"Hey Karla. How has my baby been all this time."
"just good. A little stressed but good" Mama said. "Well better get you all to your rooms. It has been a long day. You should unpack."
"I will show Jane her room and you show Kaite."
    "okay"
I walked silently down the hallway with my dad. I only had two suitcases compared to the moving van of my Mama and sister.
"Here we go." He said. "I will get you for dinner."
    "okay"
He shut the door behind him. I turned to look at the room. It had beige walls, a small desk, like the ones at school, a bed, a dresser, and a nightstand. The bedspread was white and the only thing with color was the door to the hallway and closet. I walked to the futon (a pallet of blankets) and set my suitcases down. I opened them and put all of the clothes into the dresser drawers and walked to the closet. 7 square feet, that is the area of my bedroom, 7 square feet. I opened the closet door, and saw a small walk-in closet with a few hangers and a piece of lent on the floor. It had a tall laundry basket. I closed that door after I stored my suitcases. I walked out into the hallway. I went and I started a shower, but i had to cut it short because Kaite wanted a shower. I was already knowing my place in the house, just like it was with every other house we ever had. I was used to it.
