• Prologue - Eyes of a human:

This part of town was deserted, no one came here. I was curious enough, I heard stories about strange beings here, though I never believed it, and I decided to check it out tonight. Its too easy getting through the security gates because there was never anyone guarding it, and its even easier for me, since hacking is what I do. Anything electronic isn’t a wall for me. The night was still, old street lights bulbs flickered, most were smashed, shattered glass still lay around the ground underneath battered lights. I hurried towards the tallest building and the oldest one too. Belvoir’s old shopping centre, it was a huge place but no one spoke of it, I’m not sure why. It was fortified with heavy walls, and there was a heavily guarded electronic entrance. I slipped in quietly anyway, it was dark and cold. This place seemed eerie but I wanted to prove people wrong, why was this part of town was deserted anyway? What was everyone scared of? I saw the automatic snipers pointing into the darkness that I was about to face. Just what was I going to see?

I started getting a bad feeling when my footsteps echoes a little too loudly, in the darkness for my liking…there were too many corridors door less as they were. I descended down into the basement…the silence hurt my ears when I stopped to listen if there was anything. The walls harbored so much dust. There was not a shed of life around me.

As I edged around the corner I gripped the Swiss knife I had in my pocket…not sure why I did that though, but my senses told me I should be ready. An angry growl answered my uneasy feelings. The adrenaline pumped through me as fear grew inside me, eating me. The growling was near…the silence was punctured by sudden short bursts of gunshots, I quickly crouched into a crevice of a wall… A young girl dressed with black leather jacket, white shirt and black jeans, walked into view. She was splattered with blood. She brushed a stray strand of her shoulder-length jagged black hair before she tucked her gun back into its place on her belt. A sword in its sheath was apparent, though seemed light but dangerous even if it was not drawn. I drew a breath. She froze instantly, listening intensely…she relaxed and I was able to breathe just a bit. A tall woman was behind the girl in just a second. The woman’s sleek brown hair brushed the girl’s shoulders, as she leaned in to whisper something into the girl’s ears.

“Eturia, you must go to classes, even if you are a noble, you have to attend your classes,” The woman threatened in a whisper, careful not to break the deathly fragile stillness. Eturia turned to face the woman, she stared at her briefly.

“Katrisha, I thought I told you not to interfere with my hunts,” her almost ebony eyes narrowing.

“Your hunt has nothing to do with classes, and you cannot afford to miss so much of the work, the Settlement depends on you.” Katrisha tried to reason.

“If you must, tell them I will be back soon with their week’s worth of a hunt, that would keep them happy.” With that, Eturia stepped off into the darkness, leaving Katrisha to ponder in her thoughts.

In a blink of an eye, Katrisha disappeared, my fingers tightened against the handle of my knife. Fingers caressed my neck before I heard a silky feminine voice blowing quietly into my ear.

“You heard our conversation didn’t you, human boy?”

My thoughts were racing, why did she refer to me as a human? But before I could think any further-

“Looks like this is your end anyway.” and my heart stopped as it froze in fear.
