A Review On Sally From " The House On Mango Street"
Sally who was beautiful, with her beaten face, blue. Sally was the girl, so pretty and frail, whose father beat her. Sally who tries to hides that fact, Sally, who tries so hard. But she can tell. She feels sorry that Sally has to hide that her father does this to her. Until one day, her father lost his sense. “He just forgot he was her father between the buckle and belt. You’re not my daughter, you’re not my daughter. And then he broke into his hands.” Sally just hides from it.
Sally who dresses too old for her age. So young, yet so beautiful, showing the world what it’s like to be beautiful. She wants to be like Sally, painted face and nylons. She wants to, to be that girl that all the boys want to dance with. Sally, who stands alone with no friends. Who runs home after school, never comes out. She wonders why Sally does not run away. She wonders why Sally does not leave Mango Street. She wonders why Sally is so sad in her eyes. “Sally, was to love and to love and to love and to love, and no one could call that crazy” Sally, whose heart is broken with no one to sew it.
