For this entry, since I got bored and felt like it, I came up with a character for Legend of Korra. Emphasis on "I got bored".
Okay, so her name is Ruka and she lives with her family in Republic City. Her family is composed of her dad, her mom, and her older brother. Her father works in a jewelry store where everything you see is skillfully crafted by him. Her mother comes from a prominent well-known family and is mostly a stay-at-home mom, except for when she has to play concerts or be the pianist in the theatre. Her older brother assists their father in the jewelry store, though he dreams of one day being able to join the police. In her family, only she and her brother are fire-benders and she's a bit of a prodigy at it. No, it's not like Azula and Zuko. She doesn't use fire much as she prefers lightning combined with her sword. As for her background story, she and her mother were out one day buying groceries when they were assaulted by a man. Her mother begged him to leave them alone, but he didn't listen and sadistically murdered her right before Ruka's eyes. He grinned at Ruka and left her alone next to her mother's lifeless body. When her brother and father got concerned over their whereabouts, Ruka showed up in the bloody clothes with the police. Since that day, she swore revenge on the man who murdered her mother. Growing up, the experience made her relationship with her brother and father a difficult one, until one day in anger, she cut her long silver hair and dyed it black, leaving just the bangs silver. She ran away from home with only her sword and she joined a prominent gang, quickly becoming one of it's top members. She hoped that by joining the gang, she would be able to hunt down her mother's killer. Because of her ability to combine lightning with her sword and her skills at swordsmanship, people started calling her the Dragon Fang. She became fed up when she didn't get information and left the gang when they assaulted a family much like her own and nearly forced her to torture the mother and children to get the father's money. Following her departure, the gang has tried numerous times to get her to return, but she always turns them down. She met Korra on the same day she arrived to Republic City. Ruka was at a food kiosk buying lunch when Naga poked her head in and almost scared the owner to death. After Korra apologized, asked for one of everything and was unable to pay, Ruka offered to pay for her order and they quickly became friends. One day, while she was enjoying a stroll through the many streets of Republic City, she saw a fire ferret running straight for her. The small creature stopped when it reached her and crawled up her leg until it was on her shoulders. A young man with brown hair, green eyes, a stocky build and dressed in pro-bending equipment ran up to her and asked about the fire ferret. He introduced himself as Bolin and the fire ferret was named Pabu. He apologized to her and she giggled as Pabu did the same movements as Bolin. Bolin instantly took a liking to her and invited her to the practice, where she found Korra and Bolin's brother, Mako. At every practice, she would supervise and make sure everyone got along while keeping an eye on Pabu. Her friends don't know anything about her past and she prefers to keep it that way. After getting to know Bolin better, she started developing a crush on him, just as he started having one on her. When Mako finally got Bolin to ask Ruka out on a date, she said yes with a smile. They spent the entire day together while making sure Pabu wasn't up to his tricks. They got to know each other better and while watching the stars close to where the ferry to the island was, they kissed. They've been a couple ever since.Concerning the Equalists, she sort of agrees that some benders do opress non-benders, since she used to do the same, and she believes that those are the only ones who should be punished, as not all benders are the same. After helping Korra and Mako rescue Bolin and witnessing Amon's ability to take away a person's bending permanently, she's become extremely protective of her friends, especially Bolin. Personality wise, she's the cool, calm and collected type, though she has a temper. She tends to not like talking about her family or her past. She's very close with Korra and ocassionally visits her while she's training with Tenzin and his kids. Tenzin has heard about her, but he hasn't told Korra as he feels that Ruka deserves another chance in life. She and Mako aren't always on the best of terms as they tend to argue, but they respect each other. She is especially close to Bolin and Pabu, and can be seen with them for most of the time when she isn't away. When she fights, she combines her sword with fire-bending, making her a formidable opponent. She's also a good bare-hand fighter and fights this way most of the time as not to reveal herself as the Dragon Fang, unless the situation is dire. Despite her tough exterior, she cares deeply about those close to her. Most people don't know that she has a beautiful singing voice and plays the piano, things she got from her mother. Her most prized possession is a small crystal dragon on a chain that is attached to her sword, a gift from her parents when she was a child. She hasn't seen her father since she ran away and has run into her brother a few times. He always asks her to return home, yet she declines as she feels that it would never be the same. To Korra and the others, Ruka has them think that she's an orphan living on her own and surviving as she can, though she gets by through the occasional job and still has plenty of money left over from her crime ring days to be considered rich.
And that's about all I came up with, unless anyone thinks I should add something. I'll gladly accept any ideas.
