The Atheist Prayer
Let us take responsibility for our own actions, inactions, strengths and frailties and not project them onto ghosts, spirits, stars, portents and gods unseen.
Let us have the courage to accept that one person's faith is another person's bloody-minded pig-headed refusal to accept the obvious.
Let us have the courage to accept that the person at the front of all crowds, including this one, doesn't know all the answers.
Let us have the wisdom to accept that if our ancestors had fared differently in wars our communities would be holding different absurdities up as sacred truths, and the willingness to accept those absurdities would be seen as the badge of social trustworthiness or even the right to be allowed to draw breath.
Let us accept that the difference between a prophet and a madman is not what they say but whether the crowd accepts the story and tells their children to believe it.
Let us have the courage to accept that wanting to believe in something with every fibre of our being does not and cannot make it true.
Truth needs no help, no believers, no bowed heads and no amens.

Unlike most atheists I do not deny that a God exists, other demensions have different laws, and therefore anything is possible. Do I believe that this god makes maricles, judges people to heaven and hell, and is always watching? No, it is highly unlikely, but still in the slightest ways possible. I don't think that praying and church is going to earn you any favors either, but if you believe it does you are entitled to that, long as it comforts you. I do not wish to persecute or put down others beliefs, doing such would be neive, pointless, and could accomplish nothing but harm.
Additionally, I cannot completely reject the theory of an afterlife. Scientificly, somehow when a person dies there is some form of energy unaccounted for, and energy cannot be destroyed, it can only change form, therefore breaking the laws of this dimension. It is theorized that the missing energy is somehow transfered to a different dimension, were it would possiby take a different form. I do not believe in a heaven or hell, but dimensions that mirror them. if this theory is true then whatever you do in your life doesn't make a spec of difference to which dimension your "missing energy" is shot to, it is merely a shot of accutely where and when the dimensions cross path with the missing energy, a chance of dumb luck really.
