Chapter 3: A night to remember

“Why do we have to guard the entrance? We Should be at the cauldron picking up chicks!” Grumbled one of the swords men.
“Because Unless you want to be a soulless zombie, you and I will do as David says.” They both stood near the combatant entrance to the arena waiting for the blackmage to come. They wore black dusty robes over their steel armor so they only looked like soul reapers. It was part of the plan so the blackmage wouldn’t know the truth till it was too late.
“So where is he?”
“Who?”
“The blackmage, who did you think I meant?”
“Never mind, here he comes!”
They both turned their heads to the black mage that was walking towards them. They both shivered as the air around them drew cold. They knew he was just a blackmage, but there was a sense of death as he drew closer.
The blackmage stopped when he reached the entrance and turned his hooded head towards one of them. The guard shivered with fear as he tried to act calm in front of the blackmage. The mage stared at him before continuing down the tunnel entrance.
“You think he knows it’s a trap?” Asked the scared guard.
“No, he would have turned and ran.”

I should have known it was a trap! Brett thought to himself as he walked down the tunnel. Brett checked over his gear he brought with him. A couple of throwing daggers, a skeleton key, his new Katana, couple of potions and some explosion stones. Brett had made sure the explosion stones were put in a separate pouch.
Brett once put them in a pouch with other items when he first bought them from a store. They blew up and put Brett in the healing wing for three days. Brett let himself chuckle at the memoire as he remembered how the white mages learned how to heal major wounds from his experience. Never had he seen so many girls and guys faint from the sight of a burn flesh wound. Only a few dared to give the spell a try and even fewer succeeded in healing the wound.
As he approached the end of the dark tunnel, Brett could feel knots in his stomach. He had a feeling that his life was about to end. He was so caught up in his thoughts that he walked right into the arena door. Brett shook himself before opening the door to the arena pit.
To his surprise, the sandy pit contain no life. He walked through the door and careful scanned the arena. All around the pit raised a few meters off the ground were stands where the spectators sat. Their was also a box seat for those who could afford the luxury.
Brett walked toward the center where their was a circular iron frame in the floor. Surrounding the iron frame was four pillars with chains on them. Brett knew they were meant to keep those who were sentence to death from running. Brett shivered at the thought of getting eaten by a beast and only be able to scream.
“Welcome Brett, I didn’t think you would come?” Said a voice from the stands. “I thought you would of ran to your girl friend and try to warn her.”
“You probably would of killed her before I got to her.” Brett replied as he drew his katana.
“True, I would of killed her. You impress me with your ability to predict my actions.”
“It’s not very hard.” Brett replied coldly to the mysterious voice.
“Really? Care to prove your theory?” The voice taunted.
“Your not the type to fight so you will have hired men to do so. Your seem the smart type so you won’t leave till im dead. When I am dead, you leave and go kill Esther.”
Brett herd clapping behind him and spun around to face his captor. A man in a Red robe sat in the box seat room siting in one of the luxurious chairs.
“You read my mind like a open book, well done!”
He rose from his chair and walked toward the box edge. Brett could see his face now he was closer. The man’s face was as pale as the moon and had just as many scars. His brown eyes were pale and looked sunken into his head. Brett also noticed that the man’s hair was buzzed to look like red flames.
“But I cannot stay to watch you die friend. Time is money and I don’t tend to waste any more of it. Have a wonderful time in oblivion child of sorrows.”
The man snapped his fingers and the iron grate slid open. Brett could feel the ground shake as something rose slowly to the surface. The man laughed as he walked out of Brett’s eye sight. As Brett turned to face the now open pit, Brett removed his outer robe to reveal his Blackmage robes.
“Alright, lets play.” Brett wisped to himself.
The pit elevator finally reached the top and Brett saw it’s rider. Standing on for legs was a massive Black fur wolf. The creature looked around wildly until its gaze fell on Brett. It growled and showed its huge, sharp, white, fangs to make himself more menacing. His hair stuck up to make sure that poor Brett knew he was a dead man.
“Great, I always knew I would die a gruesome death!” Brett muttered.
“I will try to make it as painless as possible.” The wolf replied.

Thats all for now folks! The next part should be out real soon... I hope. Please leave a comment.
