Usually I am heat resistant (a bit like red Pikmin) but when Adam, his mum and I dropped in to BUNNINGS to buy some paint for the wacky shack, I felt I was dying. It must have been something like 36 degrees Celsius in there! Now, that was fine at first, but as I soon found out, Adam’s mum gets sidetracked way too easily (probably why she’s always late) and we ended up standing in the paint aisle for an hour or so. Furthermore, on the way home, Adam insisted on taking a five minute detour so I could see a house that had been painted completely green.
“It looks like Dorothy the Dinosaur,” said his mum. “It even has scales.” And it really did. But it wasn’t worth the time spent.
Back at the house, we jumped into the pool (really nice bushy, stony, natural in-ground one), but had to get out a little earlier than expected when I realised it was 6PM and I had not yet phoned my parents to tell them what time I should be picked up. The time was soon set for 9PM that night, and we were dry and in front of the TV in minutes. Adam played Path of Neo and complained constantly about the massively crap, massively altered storyline. I alternated between Pikmin 2 and Meerkat Manor (channel Ten).
We went downstairs at quarter to nine to discover that Adam’s mum was only just starting dinner. She explained how she got carried away when washing the car, and suggested I called my mum to postpone a little. I was reaching for the phone when we heard something outside. And it was my mum. And I got pissed off at her because she always insists on getting there half an hour early and sitting in the driveway like a stalker.
