Lives lost by leaden rain.
It makes me wonder what we gain
By sending loved ones to their deaths
To stand for what we think is best.
All war is cold, chilled by sick bloodlust,
But although it's sick, sometimes we must,
Or risk greater numbers for a lesser cause.
Humanity drains slowly, just the same as ice thaws.
Mortar explosions and blood everywhere,
As they send families to ruin with little or no care.
Futile advances at a debatable cause...
Few ever escape war's bony claws.
Soldiers fighting overseas
To defend the freedom of their families.
No single soul is free from this horror.
Every person a digit in a subliminal score.
It only seems as though someone wins.
It really depends upon which side luck defends.
Ideally, all combatants lose each time.
Society only focuses on the greater crime,
Unaware of the havoc that unfolds,
Knowing only of the info. that the newscaster holds
With shallow indifference for the heroes that fight
So he can speak out for what he thinks is right.

That's a very powerful poem based on that movie. I love the film also!
