I.
Listen to the night's songs!
Herald the arrival of stars
As they dance their moonlight waltz;
Glistening, glimmering,
Singing. They are silvery stars strolling
So far away.
II.
Lily pads flowing away
From the sunbirds' songs.
Phoenixes, who in time, are strolling
Among forgotten stars
Who, once glimmering,
Now are dimly dancing a transient waltz.
III.
Masqueraders, hiding behind the music of the waltz
Wish to be whisked away
By their true love. While they are glimmering
With hope, listening to songs,
With eyes that are filled with shimmering stars,
They miss the moon and sun, whom behind them are strolling
IV.
A cricket and frog who are strolling
Hear music and begin to waltz
Below the stars.
Their hearts are swept away
By summer songs
And they are left glimmering.
V.
The nightingales who so desire to be glimmering
Are watching the moon and sun that were once strolling.
They listen to the sunbirds' songs
And watch the dreamers waltz
Before they whirl away
To be among the stars.
VI.
Forgotten movie stars dance among shimmering stars,
While nightingales who gleam sing with a glimmering
Cricket and frog. Masqueraders who were whisked away
By their dreams see that Time is strolling
And the sun and moon waltz
As they all play the midnight songs
VII.
The stars are now away, near the galaxy and strolling.
There is no more glimmering and no more of the waltz
All are away, save for the sun, as Dawn begins her songs.

Description:
So this is my first sestina that I've ever written, and it was more written for the sake of writing a sestina than anything else. Punctuation is a little iffy in some places in my opinion, but I like it nevertheless.
For those of you who don't know, a sestina is a form of poetry where the final words of each stanza are the same but in a different, specific order. - Date: 12/27/2009
