• I exist to speak freely with every breath that I take,
Form thoughts into phrases in every rhyme that I make,
    It's a skill, and I try.
    It's not absurd, don't deny.
Words are power, I don't lie.
They are my power, 'till I die.

Spread the word, show the world,
They can't ignore me as I let my truth unfold.
We aren't weak, we're just young, and if you haven't listened already,
Hear me as I speak, I am one voice for many.

Now, I am not alone as I speak to society
While I speak, others scream their hearts out alongside me.
We exercise our civilian rights to free speech,
To peacefully assemble, and try our hardest to reach.

Reaching for a dream is impossible alone,
My fingers flex and strain to reach for a goal.
My muscles cry out in pain as my soul sings with agony,
I ache to take my fantasy and make it reality.

Anyone willing to lend me a hand?

Come over here friend, and then climb onto my shoulders,
A pair is strong, but with others our strength is capable of moving boulders.
Watch as we climb higher, notice how we never tire,
Many young souls dreaming of their own goals willing to conspire.

Together, we chant as others claim we can't,
Poetry and song is one way to prove them wrong.
Words are power, I swear it's true,
Let us amplify and scream so that others can hear us too.

    We have a voice!
    We have a choice!
To decide for ourselves, to realize the situation,
And to speak with our pained expressions and elaborate articulation!

But no one ever listens to children.

When we scream, they plug their ears.
When we are scared, they laugh at our fears.
When we speak, they name it "noise".
Hear us now, we are many in one voice.

    I don't give a damn who's skin is black nor who's white,
Who's Mexican nor Asian nor Indian nor Israelite.
All that matters is that we can feel, and we will always 'till we're old,
What separates the "who" from the "what" is a heart of gold.

So look me in the eyes and tell me who you are,
Forget where you came from, no matter how far.
Do you want to speak? To prove you're not weak?
Then take my hand, together it's no small feat.

    We will make them listen.

They don't know what it is longing to be said,
I doubt they will bother to figure out what's in my head,
So I'll figure it for them, summarize and edit,
And show them exactly what it means to be a parent.

We won't scream, we will speak politely,
In a language they understand, our tones lightly
Putting emphasis on the biggest of our points,
Hear us as we speak, we are many in one voice!
