A dark cloud rolls in
an omen, maybe
i look in my wallet
nothing, it's empty
last month's bill
don't remember how much it costs
but what have I really lost?
my account has run empty
so has my fridge
the house had to be morgage
what a rough time it is
with all that has happend, I never see the cost
so what have I really lost?
it's winter now
my coat barely keeps me warm
I can still walk
but my shoes are worn
my face is stricken by frost
but what have I really lost?
so what if I don't have a house
so what if I don't have a stove
i don't care where I live
any place I go I can call home
life is short, but It has just begun
and I can say right now
this moment is not the worst one
spring is here
and so I still thrive
though to some people they say
it's a miracle I'm alive
but what's the real cost?
what have I really lost?
nothing
