-
The trees around you whisper
All the things you want to hear.
They murmur pretty lies,
And carry away your fears.
The deceitful whispers surround you,
A blanket of lie on top of lie.
During the night, the wind blows strong,
But with sunrise, starts to die.
The lies suddenly cease.
Caught unaware, you’re left exposed.
No blanket to keep you warm,
The truth left undisclosed.
Your fears creep back,
You lose knowing who you are,
Feeling vulnerable and alone,
Left with nothing but deep scars.
As the day wears on,
And night returns once again,
The whispers come flowing back
As the trees pick up their wind.
You embrace the night,
Welcome the two-faced wind,
Knowing all the while,
The cycle will never end.
