Gone, just like that. You can’t help but stare with your widened blue eyes that were colored with shock. You’re paralyzed. You want to do something that could bring her back to your side.
The sweet memories invade your thoughts. Her smile—one that never changed in a decade’s time—summoned up the courage to take initiative to be friends. Just like that, there weren’t any secrets you kept from each other.
The beginning of high school changed everything; you unexpectedly saw her in a different light. Questions began emerging: Did she look stunning this year, or was she always like that? Was her aroma always so sweet? How was it possible that you missed that amazing sparkle in her beautiful hazel eyes? Her smile sent a new army of feelings to your heart—one you’ve never felt before—and just like that, you were staring at her like she was your angel.
When she had boyfriends, you wore your façade that hid the jealousy that was burning you from within. No worries though, since you knew that when they broke up, she’d be running into your arms, crying and ranting because you’re the only one who she can trust and you’re the only one who knows the real her until you two part.
You were about to profess your love for her after school today. When you saw her, a flawless smile stretched across her face. “She has to be the one,” you thought as you returned her smile. There was a gunshot. Classmates around you ran towards safety, but you just stood there, immobilized as you saw your love fall right before your eyes. Her smile is gone now, as well as your heart.
Just like that, she was gone; just like that, you were gone.
