• Chapter 55
    Eighteenth Year
“What is it?” Edan said with displeasure as Mauve fiddled with the white lace sewn onto dress’s sleeves. She looked at him with her dangerous satin eyes smoothing out her corset.
“I came to talk to about this girl,” she said without the dignified manner that you thought she would have been accustomed to.
“What about Hai?” He spoke with profound concern and unease.
She let out a sigh, blowing the gold-spun tightly curled threads from her face, “Well let’s just say the council isn’t as tolerant of the situation as we had hoped.”
    “As in?”
Mauve choked on the words as she rang them, “They want her dead or one of us.”
Edan was barely able to think straight, “Well how long would she have exactly before she needs to be one of us?”
Mauve tugged on the white lace again trying to muster up the strength needed to spill out the words. “They are deciding between the ages sixteen and seventeen, but it looks like sixteen is going to be the winning choice.” She looked down at the ground hoping not to make this harder than it needed to be, “If she doesn’t agree then they will have to kill her immediately…. There’s no other way around it.”
Edan glanced over again at Hai who was sitting quietly next to an overly excited Molly. He could tell that Molly instantly loved Hai just by the way she her eyes brightened up. “Make it eighteen and I’ll change her myself, I swear.” Edan didn’t know what else to say, but this seemed like the best way to go. It kept her alive longer which was all that counted.
“I think that would be a fair deal but I must run it by the Council. And you must make sure this is fine with Hai,” she said walking away. Edan slowly walked back over to Hai.
How on Earth am I going to tell her that her life has just been cut short! Edan thought.
Well, I suggest you don’t tell her at all, Matoko sighed. I’m sure that eventually she will want to be like you, just wait she will.
    What makes you so sure?
You’ve seen the way her eyes light up; it reminds me a bit of the way Jia Lee looked at me when we first met.
I don’t have time for your fantasies. Right now I’m worried about Hai.
Like I said don’t tell her, just trust me this time, everything will be fine if you don’t tell her. I mean what are you going to say ‘Hai I’m going to have to kill you before you turn eighteen’? That will defiantly make her feel comfortable with it.
You really aren’t helping when you put it like that.
But am I wrong? Listen Hai seems to be fairly readable in this situation if you don’t tell her I’m positive that things will turn around and everything will be just fine. Later in time there is a high chance she will say yes in a heartbeat.

Edan stopped and look down over Hai, who didn’t notice he was behind her, You’re right Matoko. I won’t tell her. Molly looked up at him realizing that she was to say nothing and continue on. She knew that at this moment it was best to keep her mouth shut.
Of course I’m right, Matoko chimed, I’m a Guardian I think I know what I’m doing.
Sure you do Matoko, sure you do
    .
“Edan,” Mauve said, rushing over with the slightest dash of happiness flowing through her aura, “the Council agreed. What did Hai say?”
Edan shifted his eyes away hoping he was saying what was best for her. “She fully understood and agreed to it.”
“Perfect,” she smiled, “then its official, Hai will be become a vampire by her eighteenth year.”

You saw it coming didnt you Rainbow Donkey Princess? And Ever963.... I knew you knew you so saw this coming so I didnt have to ask at all. But I can assure you when the time comes you will all be ok with this...... except maybe for you Rainboow because you arent the biggest vampire fan are you.
