Chapter 5 – Arrival
Blake started running again, a little bit faster than before.
“Does she know about…?”
“No, that would scare too much to spy for us,” Blake sighed, “he’s weak.”
“Well how much information can he possibly hold?” I asked concerned.
“Most of it, he’s the king.”
After that he didn’t talk much, and when I asked him anything about his family he wouldn’t answer. I kissed the back of his head, though his hair still smacking my face. For some reason, I liked it. His hair smelled sweet but very unique. I pressed my nose against his neck inhaling the scent. His skin was ice cold and very comforting in this hot weather. I dozed off.
I opened my eyes halfway. Blake had slowed down and was walking gracefully. I looked down. The trail was golden. I looked to my right. A giant tulip’s petals were closed. I watched a little longer, and they quickly opened, exposing a collage of orange and red.
“Blake…,” I whispered, half awake.
“Well, well. Good morning princess,” he said happily.
“Put me down I can walk,” I muttered.
“Aw, but I like listing to you when you sleep. It’s so adorable,” he laughed. “Plus, your heartbeat was nice and normal. Not like it is when you’re awake and I’m around.”
I blushed.
He let me down. I struggled to keep my balance because of no usage of my legs.
“How long were you running?” I asked.
“Oh, say, about seven hours,” he shrugged, “I walked after you fell asleep so I wouldn’t wake you,” He put his arm around my waist.
“There is no way my dad hiked all of this. How far away are we now?” I yawned.
“We’re here,” he kissed my cheek and led me into a vacant field, which turned into a beautiful meadow.
