I sat down quietly at the desk. I tapped my fingers over and over, trying to ease over my nerves. I bit my lip and began to tap my fingers even more recklessly. I glanced around the class room. I took notice of Cana and Tanya walking in. Though it seemed they didn’t care much for each other, they would rather be with each other than me. But I preferred being aloof from all the others.
“Alright class let’s begin,” said the teacher, clapping his hands together. The wooden door gave a quick thud. “Ahh,” the teacher glanced at his sheet,” Mr. Kellan you’re late. Well luckily there is a seat right next to Ms. Gao.” My eyes shot up like rockets and moved to my left. The seat next to me was untaken.
Someone sat down next to me. I carefully shifted my eyes over, there he was, the boy I crashed into in the halls, dark brown hair and all. I looked back down, trying to remain lax. My mind wandered around. Maybe I should apologize for crashing into him. I should also say thank you. I wonder what his name is. What classes does he have? Wait this is just frivolous; I shouldn’t be worried about these things. I don’t even know him; he is a peer and only that. But he’s just so mysterious.
“Ms. Gao, are you paying attention?” questioned the teacher, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Yes sir,” I quickly responded.
“Well then can you tell me our topic?”
“W-w-we were talking about the history of prayers.”
“Well then you won’t mind, since you were paying attention, if I asked you a question?”
“N-no sir,” I choked.
“What was praying the names of the angels used for in the late 1800s?”
I knew this, my mother told me multiple times after my nightmare incidents. “It was used to keep away,” I lost the words in my mouth.
“Keep away what? Ms. Gao.”
“Vampires,” I carefully whispered the word. The class gave a chuckle. Facetious myths. The boy next to me clenched his hand and shifted his posture.
“Very good,” the bell gave a relief filled ring, “well I will see you all tomorrow. And be prepared we are going to start kicking it into gear.”
I swiftly got up, grabbed my bag, and started to rush from the room.
“Ms. Gao,” the teacher stopped me dead in my tracks, “I was impressed by your knowledge but I would appreciate it if you participated a bit more.”
“Sorry sir.” I muttered then dashed out the door. I turned around; there he was, walking behind the group of blue blazers.
I stepped in front of him. “I’m sorry I bumped into you earlier.” I bowed my head and put my hands in front of me, connecting them at my hands, a strange habit of mine.
“It’s fine,” he whispered.
“I’m Hai!” I said snapping up my head. What was I thinking? Just randomly blurting my name out there? I felt pitiable. I just couldn’t help myself, I somehow, in some way, felt bonded to him. I started to walk away, embarrassed.
“Wait,” he called placing his cold hand on my shoulder turning me around. “My name is Edan.” The bell gave another long ring. “I’ll see you later,” he added and dashed away from my sight.
Bonus junk
Haha i never intended for Hai and Edan to interact so much (until later) but I just love the way they act around each other. 20 really shows off their "other sides". But this chapter and the next to are good for foreshadowing. But sadly im gonna have to take a break with Edan soon. But don't worry youll see him at Just the right moment. HEHE (evil laugh)

- Yeah, depressing isn't it? I just realized how old he is... Brian's twelve! Can you imagine what we were doing when we were twelve? That's what he's doing now! I feel so old!
