Now I’ll tell you what’s going on now. I sat in my apartment (which was right above Farah Faucet’s), sulking in an egg chair (which was pretty cool because I had always wanted one!). A tear slipped down my cheek as I remembered all of the times me and Connor would sit in the café at the mall, talking and laughing over cups of hot chocolate. I heaved a giant sob at the memory. I wiped the tear of my cheek and decided to go down to Earth. In the lobby of my apartment I ran into Michael Jackson.
“Hi Hope! How are you doing today?” he asked.
I smiled, instantly cheering up. Michael was so nice.
“Hi Michael! And I’m doing ok! How about you?” I asked him.
“I’m good thanks for asking! Where are you going?” he asked.
“To see my boyfriend. Well he was. Till I came here,” I said sadly.
Michael nodded and I knew he understood. “I know how you feel,” he said, confirming my thoughts.
“It’s hard,” I said, trying to keep my tears from spilling over my eyes.
“I know it is. But don’t worry Hope. You’ll get through it. I promise. Have a good time with your boyfriend! I’ll catch you later!” Michael said. And he walked off around the apartment lobby. I went through the revolving doors, spinning around twice like I used to do when I was little. Ok well not just when I was little. I used to do it when I was alive too. And now I do it when I’m not alive. Spinning in doors is something you will never grow out of I guess. I went out into the town to the sight of transparent ghosts wandering around amongst the clouds. I went out through the gate and went to the ticket booth by the gate.
“Hey Bill!” I said to the ticket master.
“Hey Hope! Long time no see! It’s only been like a day!” Bill chuckled.
“Yeah I know!” I said.
“Going down to visit Connor?” Bill asked me, running a hand through his
snow white hair.
I smiled. “How did you know?”
Bill grinned. “Just a guess.”
He pulled a lever and I was back on Earth. I was in the graveyard and there was Connor, as usual. He wasn’t crying this time, but he looked like he had been.
“I love you Connor”, I whispered.
Connor’s head shot up. He looked all around him until his gaze fell on me. He froze.
I laughed in disbelief. Connor could see and hear me! I floated down towards him going a hundred miles a second.
“Connor! It’s me! Hope! I’m so glad you can see me and hear me! I’ve missed you so much!” I exclaimed.
He smiled and looked at me as he shook his head. “You’re going crazy Connor,” he said to himself. “You’re hearing her voice inside your head,” he said, running his hand through his short black hair.
My heart broke. He couldn’t see me. He couldn’t hear me. “No! Connor! I’m really here! I’m really, really here! Connor!” I said, on the verge of tears.
Connor didn’t say anything. He continued to stare at my grave, his face as still as stone. I began to cry. I thought he had heard. I thought he had seen me. I really thought he had. Tears were spilling down my cheeks and I couldn’t stop them as they came out. Connor finally turned around and headed towards the street. I bit my quivering lip to keep myself from going hysterical. I floated towards him. I knew what I would do. I would have to follow him until he could finally see or hear me and I don’t care if it will take him until the day he dies. I just have to say good-bye to him one last time. I want to tell him how I feel. I want to tell him I love him.
