• I walked slowly up the dark staircase, back pressed against the cold concrete wall, trying to keep my breath as shallow as possible.
The sound of one of the steps creaking loudly almost made me ump but I caught myself, keeping completely silent as tentatively took another step.
once I arrived at the little door at the top of the staircase I lifted my gun, poised and ready to attack, and waited.

After what seemed like an eternity the door slowly swung open reveling the silhouette of a man, I took aim quickly and before even a second had
Passed I shot, hitting him right between the eyes. He fell, dead before he hit the ground and a thousand sounds hit my ears at once.
Screaming, of course he hadn't been alone, a woman, probably in her mid thirdys came running to the door, I shot her to, but when two little
children followed, barely over the ages of seven, I couldn’t shoot. So, instead, I scooped them up and brought them with me.
Running down the stairs as fast as I could I sped out of the building and down to the car, pulling the door open and shoving the children inside. I stuck the key in the ignition and sped away. An hour later I was enthusiastically hitting my head against the steering wheel, repeating the word “Damn” over and over, in beat to my head smashing. What had I done? I was such a fool, a soft hearted fool.
