    Chapter 1: Whispered Voices
“I still hear your voice when you sleep next to me/ I still feel your touch in my dreams/ Forgive me my weakness, but I don’t know why/ Without you it’s hard to survive”
    {00000000}
A blush crept slowly across her face as she secretly watched the Rokudaime Hokage from behind a tall oak tree; the foliage hiding her as she observed him training diligently. She still felt proud that he had reached his dream finally and these few years afterwards had been the best the world had ever seen. Peace and tranquility liberated the land of war and bloodshed; all thanks to a certain happy-go-lucky blond.
But there was one thing that had not been enlightened…
    Her love-struck heart.
She was still curious about if Naruto felt the same about her, because nothing had been said since her confession during the Pain Attack ten years ago.
    Hopefully he wouldn’t reject her.
“Do you love me too, Naruto-kun?” She whispered softly to herself.
A breeze rustled the trees around her as the faint clouds in the sky blocked the sun, creating a small spotlight on the man she was watching so intently. He had come to a standstill, head cocked to one side as if listening to something that wasn’t there. Hinata quickly quieted her breathing and the pounding of her heart, even as she hid her chakra signal. She couldn’t let him find out she was watching him. He’d think she was weird.
    Well…weirder than she already was.
“You decided to watch me again didn’t you, Hinata-chan?” A deep, resonating voice chuckled behind her.
A startled gasp escaped her lips as she spun on her heel to come face-to-face with the man that she had idolized since she was a mere child.
“…Hokage-san…I was just making sure you were okay,” she stuttered, her face going red.
He just smiled brightly at her with a knowing smile on his tawny face, those glowing blues orbs gazing calmly into her eyes.
    “...I…I was just…”
“Please don’t lie to me Hyuuga-dono. I know you’ve been watching me ever since we were kids.”
Hinata looked away, fixing her gaze on a nearby stone that was a shiny blue-black. He’d known all along? She felt her face turn red in shame and turned to flee, but a firm gentle hand grasped her wrist, stopping her. Her eyes went wide in shock at the action. Lavender orbs stared into twinkling bits of ocean. Hinata could see deep into those orbs; could see the pain, the sadness, the isolation; she could see the hope to become loved. Her throat suddenly went dry.
    Could it be?
    “H-hokage-sam-?”
Warm lips crashed against hers, cutting her off. A fluttery feeling erupted in her stomach at the feel of those soft, gentle lips. Too quickly though the blond pulled away.
“I’m sorry it’s taken so long, Hinata-onee. I was scared.”
Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring Naruto’s image, but she could still see him well enough to see that he had his arms opened wide. With a choked sob Hinata fell into his embrace, wrapping her own arms around his strong, narrow waist. She could feel Naruto shaking and could hear the happiness when he spoke again.
“So you accept me? Despite Kyuubi?”
Hinata nodded, her face pressed against his bare chest. “Yes, Naruto, I’ll always accept you.”
