• Chapter 1

The girl smiled as the academy teachers congratulated the students, or what they are now, ninjas, on graduating from the Ninja Academy.
Her lips curved up into a smile. She brushed her long brown bangs back with her hand, revealing her blood red eyes. Her hair was to her shoulder, giving her a loaid back look. The pink ribbon tied around her neck touched the birthmark on her cheek. It was a blood red crescent moon shape taht was crossed in the middle with a thin line. A dark red head band was tied to her right arm above her elbow. It had a metal plate imprinted with a leaf symbol on it. She had on a pink, tight shirt with short sleevs and a pair of white baggy caprice. She had paper white wrappings around her left arm from her wrist to her elbow. Her white glove covered her right hand and her maroon leather shoes covered her feet.
She turned towards her brother standing next to her and held her smile. If he had a tail, it'd practically be wagging a lot right now. She giggled a bit as she thought of this.
This is so nostalgic, she remembered when her and her three best friends, Shy, Mikalana, and Rose, graduated from the Academy at age eight. They were each the top students there. Kiba was jealous since she graduated before he did, so he tried to ignore her, but in the end she won him over with fake tears.
She laughed as these memories flooded her mind.
"Whats so funny, Kyoma?" Kiba looked to her confused, but on his face was his usual smirk.
Kyoma gave him a smirk back and pointed at him, "Nii-san said you weren't supposed to graduate for another two years!" She then crossed her arms and looked away. "She said that you're way too troublesome, or something like that. Heck I think she called you that more than that guy Shika-whatever who says it it almost all the time!" She looked back at her brother and then smiled, "But I'm happy for you."
"Well, thanks." Kiba looked away brushing his cheek with his forefinger. He looked back at her and slightly raised his eyebrow. "But I don't see your whole point with the troublesome thing," he smirked again, "because half of those times she was also calling you troublesome."
Kyoma blinked and then half smiled, "I guess I forgot," she giggled, "remember that time I pulled that prank on Uchiha!"
Kiba laughed as soon as she said 'Uchiha'. "Hell yeah I remember that! Who knew that even he could be uncool sometimes?"
"Yeah, I know!" Kyoma laughed. She remembered how relieved to find out that Sasuke wasn't as perfect as he seemed to be. Even after that though, she still didn't like him and his attitude. I don't get why most of the girls are so head over heels for him. I mean, yeah he's cute, but he rejected every girl that ever confessed to him! He always gave them a look that said "you're not good enough for me". He's a complete jerk! I wouldn't be surprised if the guy went crazy over power or something!
It took a while for Kyoma to notice that her brother wasn't standing beside her anymore, and that people around her had already started chatting.
Kyoma shook her head, looking around for the white fur of Kiba's dog, Akamaru, who usually sat on the top of his hooded head.
"Oni-sama!" She tip-toed, trying to see over the heads of the people there. She couldn't see at all, she was too short. Dang my body's resistance to getting a growth spurt. It was true, she was short for her age of twelve, and she had a flat chest. Most of her friends already grew, but she still stayed the same.
"Hey, is that him?" Kyoma immediately turned towards the direction of the voice she heard. Two women were talking to each other while looking past Kyoma. She cocked her head slightly, wondering what they were talking about.
"Yeah, that's him." The women who said this snarled. "The only one that failed." Her eyes looked familiar. They were eyes that sometimes aimed at Kyoma. The look of their eyes gave her a chill that raised the hairs at the back of her neck. Kyoma turned to see who they were glaring at.
Her eyes shifted to a boy on a swing. His blond hair was spiky, she wondered how he did it. He wore orange baggy pants and an orange and blue jacket. His face seemed familiar to her, as if she'd seen him somewhere before, and though she couldn't see them well, she could see the loneliness behind his ocean blue eyes.
"Serves him right," the other lady began, "can you imagine, if they let someone like that become shinobi?"
She could feel the hatred behind the woman's voice. What do they mean by, 'someone like that'? While her ears were stuck on their conversation, her eyes were stuck on the boy.
"I mean think about what he is-"
"Don't even go there!" the first lady said, cutting the other one off.
What is he? Kyoma started walking towards the boy to introduce herself. She wanted to know why they gave him those eyes, she wanted to help him.
    "Kyo!"
Kyoma stumbled slightly as she heard her name being called out suddenly. She turned to see Kyazuri running towards her, waving. The blue Konoha headband that was hanging around her neck was jumping along with her slim body. Her dark hair was parted a little to the right, slightly covering her eyes that were the color of night. A small, yet beautiful, bright green butterfly floated around her sandy colored arms and then around her long thing legs taht were covered with blue, flat, knee high boots. The right sleeve of her dark blue shirt was long and loose around her wrist, and the left sleeve was an inch strip showing the rest of of her arm. The bottom of her shirt was tight around her waist. Her black skirt was a couple inches above her knees and her lips were pulled up in a shy smile as always.
"Hey, Kya!" Kyoma gleemed, excited to see her best friend. "Awesome, right? Our brothers are finally shinobi!" Kyoma felt herself resisting the urge to jump up and down eagerly.
"I know!" Her voice was soft, "I could tell Shino was excited, he started talking to himself a lot!"
"I thought he always did that?" Kyoma looked at her confused.
"Yeah but he talked to himself more." Kya giggled.
Kya's full name is Shy Kyazuri Aburame. Her brother is Shino Aburame, who is very mysterious and always hides his eyes behind small shades. Shy and her family are the only one who ever seen him without them.
Her and Kyoma had been best friends since they were eight, when they first met at the Academy. they stuck together like glue, well, after Kyoma stopped some orange haired girl from picking on Shy for being so quiet. Her name actually fit her perfectly, because around other people, that's what she is. She can only be herself around people she knew really well, like Kyoma and Blaise. Rose and Mikalana were also best friends with them. They were twins actually. The only difference was that Rose had silver hair and Mikalana had black hair. But Rose dissappeared a little after they became Jonin, no one knows where she went off to. Mikalana then left back to their original home in the Sand Village.
"By the way," Shy looked to Kyoma with a somewhat serious look on her face, "Hokage-sama has asked for us. He says he must speak to us about the new graduates."
    "About what?" Kyoma asked her.
"I don't know." Shy replied, dragging her i as she said it.
"Okay then, let's go!" Kyoma said smiling.
"Yeah!" Kyazuri smiled back and sped off.
Kyoma looked back at the swing. The boy who sat there was now gone, leaving the swing alone. She stared at the swing for a a few more seconds before speeding off after Kya. "Wait up!" she yelled quickly catching up to her.

"Hokage-sama!" Kyoma yelled, banging on the door of the Hokage's office. "It's us!"
"Come in." The voice of an old but strong mand came from behind the door.
Kyoma turned the know and swung the door open, leaping to the front of his desk that was near the end of the room.
"Hi hi, Hokage-sama!" Kyoma smiled. "So what is it? Huh? Huh?" she was looking at him both eagerly and curiously as she leaned on his desk.
Shy giggled as she walked up beside Kyoma.
The Hokage cleared his throat and looked up at her. "As you know," he said, his eyelids now covering his eyes, "we have new genin, two of them are your brothers of course, but only nine of all the graduates will actually become genin. You remember this from when you graduated?" He opened his eyes and looked once more upon them as they nodded. At this he continued.
"I want you two to assist their Jonin leaders. You will be second in command and in charge if the original leader is, let's say, remarkably late." He paused as if waiting for them to respond and continued as they said nothing.
"Kyoma, you are to assist Kakashi Hatake. You have worked once with him in one of your mission, am I correct?" he asked Kyoma. She nodded. So far he's the strongest man I've ever met! Besides Hokage-sama I mean. This will be exciting! She started dazing off and the Hokage began again.
"Shy, you are to assist Asuma Sarutobi." She nodded, smiling, obvioiusly excited that she also might be placed with her brother.
"You are to meet with your genin team in two days. I recommend that you go to the Academy at the time when they learn who will be their leader."
Kyoma's head popped up remembering the one person he left out.
"What about Blaise?" Kyoma and Shy said in unison, as if both wondering the same thing.
Kyoma was a bit worried, because she had not seen him at the graduation ceremony, and she was sure he'd be there to tease her brother Kiba. Why hadn't he even crossed my mind at least once?
Blaise was the only other person who graduated at the time they did. He was on her's and Shy's genin team. He had also become Jonin, but only a year after they did. He was always the clown of them and Kyoma's only guy friend. He also loves to tease her and Kiba, it'd probably be one of his main hobbies. She hadn't seen him often and he left on a mission a few months ago, she was sure he'd be back by now.
"Oh yes, I already spoke to him today. He left on a quick mission this morning, as to why he did not make it to the graduation ceremony if this is what caught your mind."
Kyoma smiled innocently to hide that it was what she was thinking. Hokage-sama is always the one to know what is on your mind.
    "He will assist Kurenai."
Kyoma's eye twitched. One big mistake is putting him in the same group as an older woman! Another thing that Blaise was known for, was being a pervert. Of course he's a bit oblibious with it, but he still is one. Kyoma sighed letting it go and looked back up at the old man. "Okay then." She said smiling.
"You are dismissed then," he nodded, "oh, and Kyoma?" He said calmly as they were already heading out the door. Kyoma paused and turned back to him.
    "Yes, Hokage-sama?" she asked.
    "Good luck." He smiled cunningly.
Kyoma looked at him suspiciously. "Umm, thanks." she then headed out the door with Shy.
