Sitting under the dark blanket of night, a lone wolf stares at the starry sky. The moon is bright, but the wolf will not be howling tonight. The animal’s fur reflects the moon with such magnificence he looks like a polished marble statue.
For a brief second, the moon is covered by one of the night’s creatures. It becomes so dark that the wolf disappears. In an instant a smile forms on the wolf’s muzzle and he looks up at the flying creature. “You know, I’ve always wondered what bat tastes like,” he said in a rough, deep voice, “I hear its just like chicken.”
The silver bat flutters down and lands on top of the large wolf’s head. “Ya know, you could just be nice and appreciate that I am the only one that knows where to find you at night.” The voice that came out of this little creature sounded as beautiful as a song.
A quick smart reply, “Did you ever think that I may want to be alone?” but he was still smiling. The large dog shook his head and the tiny bat lost her balance and fell to the ground.
“Ow, you jerk, that’s gonna leave a bruise.” Her big brown eyes playfully glared up at her friend “You know Zec, you could lighten up and finally open up. You know I’m never gonna leave you alone about it anyways.” She flapped her tiny wings and flew up to his nose, flapping in front of his face “Pleeeease.”
“Will it make you shut up?” he sighed and laid down on the soft grass, “Fine, I will tell you, but no interrupting and I will only tell you the story at night. Right here. Deal?”
“Fine, deal. Now get on with the story, I want to learn how it all started for you. Then I might tell you my story.” She fluttered down to the ground and landed next to him.
“And so our story begins…”
