Prologue
Some point during 2111 a pandemic swept through the world. This plague was unlike anything the worlds doctors had ever seen. It claimed over 5.5 billion lives before, for some odd reason, it just disappeared. People lived in fear that the virus was lying dormant and would strike again, but it was the least of their worries.
October 5, was a day of reckoning. The plague victims, who were left where they lay for fear of catching it, roamed the cities. Many refugees swarmed to the United States because of rumors of a "sterile" city. One that would save them from the plague. A city that would give them one Last Hope. By the time most refugees reached the U.S. they realized it was in no better shape then their own cities, beaten down, and destroyed. Soon people began to fight amongst themselves for areas they deemed "safe" slowly killing the population even more.
By December 8, there were a little less than 6 million people left in the world.
The United States and several other Governments from around the world gather at Jericho, renamed Last Hope, for an emergency conference. A unanimous decision put the world under one ruler and the United Last Front was born.
On February 14, 2112 the world’s population resided in Last Hope and were now gathering strength. Since the plague killed off any of the sickly or weak the world had a population of well developed workers.
As the months went by the world rebuilt itself, slowly, but there was something eerie going on. Convoys from outpost that were sent out to clean infected areas, named Black Sites, were disappearing without a trace. Others were reporting sightings of "Alien crafts." or "Sleek black ships.”, but all were disregarded until....
April 26 an outpost on the outskirts of Iowa was having some radio troubles. A band of 40 Technicians and marines were sent out to assess the situation. Within an hour of their departure radio communication was reestablished. 5 minutes later this message was received by our dispatchers.

After the incident at 314 many people believed we were doomed by God. That he gave us 100 years to change and now he was getting back at us, but the higher ups knew. Soon reports of "Mörder" Were coming like wildfire from every outpost surrounding the city.
Within weeks the human race was at its knees with just a handful of outposts left. That's when it happened.
General Markus Rodren took leadership by force and soon sent 4000 U.L.F. troops out to the front. Two days later we had pushed back the Daemons Named Mörder and reclaimed most of our outposts, but that wouldn't be enough and he knew that. By June 11, 2112 Rodrens made a speech proposing we draft 8000 more men and women into the force, though, there was no need. 12000 strong stood at the barracks waiting for Rodren when he got done.
They took a month to train and on July 4, 2112 the second Independence Day took place, but this time for the world. The first push lost us over 1000 soldiers, but the ranks were quickly replenished with eager recruits willing to risk their lives for the sake of humanity.
June 29, 2113. Almost a year after we had started the first push and we had gotten 500 miles away from Last Hope. Scientist created two 500 pound bombs, code named big black and big red, in a facility, about 100 miles away, named Saving Grace. The bombs were to be used against the Mörder landing zone in hopes that their mother ship would be destroyed, but a week after its completion the 1000 scientist and soldiers at Grace were slaughtered by elite Mörder soldiers named “Edge raiders”, for their twin retractable blades located on the back of their elbows. The blow was devastating and caused some to lose any hope of ending this war.
Two weeks later a soldier Named Matt Jones was assigned to Outpost Omega. This soldier was given the title of "Silencer" in the barracks for being the only one who could successfully perform an assassination on a high ranking officer. Many of the soldiers thought this was an amazing talent, but the ranking officers feared this. Unbeknown to the troops on the inside there had been reports of Mörder troops being on the inside. Some Soldiers swear that there are "Shifters”, Mörder who can change their shape ,at will, to any living thing, among the ranks. It was decided Jones need to be transported away from Last hope so they sent him to Omega. A few hours after his arrival a major Mörder raid started, killing over 100 soldiers. We lost contact with Jones for about a half an hour. In that time he had managed to get himself knocked out. All nerves were calmed at that point and they labeled him as just another stupid recruit. Jones eventually is transferred out of Omega and he joins a rogue group of soldiers. Their mission is to reach Saving Grace, activate the missiles and pray that they have any effect. Will Jones foil their plan and doom humanity to extinction? Or will he be their Last Hope?
1. Illusions of the mind.
There was a slight breeze flowing over his face. He opened his eyes and saw the sun hanging over head and not a cloud in the sky. Two birds flew above Squawking as they flew over a building. Beautiful, he thought as he looked down the length of his body.
The city was beautiful. The sidewalks were lined with shops and goods waiting to be bought, People looking to shop, talk, and just having a good time. It was like the world was in no rush for anything, so quant. You could hear the cars buzzing down the neighboring streets. Matt Jones was lying on a small patch of grass in front of the Fredrickson Computer Co. building. He was a tall, blond haired man with defined features. He was built for the military, even had the look for it. His eyes were a dark icy blue that some say pierced the soul. His clothes were just normal, a Blue Polo T-shirt and dark blue jeans.
He looked down the street to his left and as far as he could see there were stores, companies and, eateries. To his right was the Main road, with as many cars as there were people, and a park with a beautiful fountain in the middle. He loved it.
Matt turned his attention to the business street again and saw a young woman running down the sidewalk towards the main road. He looked at her wondering what the hurry was. Then the perfect utopia was shattered.
She was now holding a gun, but this was not one he had ever seen it was the size of a pistol, but bulkier and it had a stock. She started to fire wildly into the street of cars, but no one seemed to care. He tried to get up, but his legs didn’t move. He looked down and to his horror they were covered in concrete. What? No. How? He thought frantically trying to claw his way out. Desperately hoping the nightmare would end.
He looked straight back up to find his serene city streets had turned into desolate, barren wastelands. His eyes grew wide with horror and he started to panic. Now he clawed with more vigor then before, slowly freeing himself, as the world around him turned into an uninhabited, broken city. He looked back up at the girl, who had stopped for a split second to reload, but in that second three long spines slammed into her. They buried themselves deep in her chest. Her eyes widened in horror then slowly the life drained out of them as she buckled over, Landing face first into the concrete causing the needles to bury themselves ever deeper into her body.
He looked to the sky to find it to be a bleak as the city his eyes left. The sun now blocked from dark clouds the tall buildings that used to reach up and touch the skies were now shells of their former selves. There walls grayed and cracked from age.
There was more yelling from the street to his left. As he looked he saw four more soldiers running towards the main street, all carrying the same gun as the women. They were dressed in gray and white khakis and jackets. There was no mistaking these men were part of the military, but the patch threw him off. U.L.F.? What is that? For a second Matt pondered this, then his eyes widened and his stare went distant. Images of a foreign world flashed threw his mind.
“Welcome the United Last Front Corporal Jones.” A taller man said. He was few inches taller than Matt and his hair was a dark brown, cut short so it wouldn’t be in the way. They way he held himself you knew he was in charge.
“Thank you,” He found himself saying. “Rodrens.” This he said with a smirk and then things went blurry. Soon the real world flooded back.
Matt grabbed his forehead as his face contorted in pain. It was like someone had stabbed his brain with a thousand needles. He looked up for a spit second and found a shadow standing over him.
“He. . . Hello?” Matt asked the fear in his voice was unmistakable, But Before he knew it the man had grabbed his throat and was holding him a foot from his face, but he realized this was no man. The creature was a head taller than Matt and was much skinner. His face was cover in scares, eyes beams of red, and his mouth was covered by a respirator.
The creature stared straight into his eyes and then with one finger cracked his neck to one side. Matt’s whole body went numb. Soon he saw the concrete coming at his face fast and he closed his eyes and braced for pain. He opened his eyes and saw he had already hit the pavement and felt nothing.
What’s going on?! He thought starting to panic. Matt tried to move, but his arms would not co-operate. He tried to scream, but the words wouldn’t form, the concrete around him smashed and he saw a boot with a large spike on the toe. He heard talking . . . or was it in my mind? His head began to hurt. The boot lifted out of site and relief rushed over him. Good now I can. . . He felt pressure on his head and immediately he knew. They’re going to curb. . . He was cut off as the boot lifted up and hit home on his head.
