• "Bring to me Deiterriel." A powerful and demanding voice rang out across the medieval terrace. It belonged to the commanding ruler of Farinthos, a realm where magic was not uncommon, and where dragons were tamed for sport. The ruler, king Theromis, was known for having a kind heart, despite his burly appearance. However, his daughter, Deiterriel, had been suspected of stealing away a precious heirloom.

King Theromis was very strict when it came to justice. His daughter was no exception. The court bowed and created a path for a striking young woman. Her gorgeous red hair opposed her cutting, and eerily calm, blue eyes. She walked with a poise no one on earth could get away with. Once she got to the foot of his throne, she bowed down on one knee.

"It has been made clear the charges exactly one month ago. Knowing the truth, and swearing before it, are you guilty?"

She glanced over into the front row of the audience behind her. She didn't know what the sentence was going to be, and her hesitation caught the king's eye. ".... Yes. Yes, your highness, I am."
"Are you guilty of taking unnecessary blame?"
    "No, your excellence."
"However, Vaomeltin has a captive, does he not?"
"Father, how am I to know the affairs of a man whose name I have heard only but once?"
"And his captive is Kyurine, whose whereabouts have been unknown for exactly one month and eight days. Kyurine, who was to marry you, is being held by a jealous magician in debt. He told you to carry out the jewel and Kyurine would live, while planning to murder him once you had worn out your use."

A man in pale green robes turned his face to princes Deiterriel, his colorless eyes glaring at her below a full head of flaming hair. He then turned to the king. "If you wish to accuse me, your honor, perhaps you ought to do it with a little proof?"

King Theromis nodded. "Quite right you are, Vaomeltin. Chastolle, Hanek! Enter the chambers, and bring with you the captive." His voice boomed above the slight buzz of gossip and surprise. A young woman and man both walked in. both supporting the weight of an underfed man with sparkling white hair, specked with dust. He was wheezing, and barely able to lift his head.

"KYURINE!" Deiterriel rushed forward to him, only to be blocked by an authoritative guard, ten times powerful than she was. She didn't notice Vaomeltin's face turning pale blue and distorting. The room broke into a loud hum of shouting and chaos.

"ENOUGH!" King Theromis bellowed over the court. He nodded to Kyurine. "Prince Kurine of the realm of Linienra, where have you been this past month, and what in heaven's name are all those injuries?" Upon actual inspection, his clothes were ripped and torn, and he had cuts everywhere. His arms had been burned, and he appeared to have been tortured.

"Vao.. his base.." He paused and began a coughing fit. It was a few seconds before he had settled down. "Vaomeltin's basement, sir." He looked up, and his eyes were stunning, despite the bruises. They were a golden color with flecks of purple in them. It was a sure sign of dragon heritage. His eyes held a loyalty in them that could never be undermined. All other eyes turned to the green-cloaked tormentor.

"I have reached a conclusion. Vaomeltin, for blackmail, thievery, torture, kidnapping, and treason, I sentence you to death. Deiterriel, despite the reason, you are still a thief of the highest degree. I-"

"Wait! Please, sir, wait." Kyurine nodded to be taken over to Deiterriel. Once over to her, he put an arm around her, in an attempt to protect her, and to support himself. "What Deiterriel has done was no crime. It was to save the life of a prince, and her current love. Do not punish her, sir."

"What you do is brave, prince Kyurine. However, the law is the law, and I cannot change that, even for my own kin. If you want to be with her so badly, perhaps you would share her sentence, and even carry the upper half of it."

"For Deiterriel, I would take it all and more."

"... Very well. Our kingdom today is losing two of its best potential heirs. Deiterriel and Kyurine, I sentence you both to exile on earth until even time itself is worn out. Kyurine, I further sentence you to have two forms, one which you MUST take during the daytime, and the other, at night if you wish.

"You are to have the form of a kitten, small enough to for her to sneak into any building, therefore leaving the watchful responsibilities up to you. Should you two be in split rooms, your bodies, and curses, will switch. Vaomeltin, do not think I have forgotten about you. In your death, you are to turn into a piece of jewelry, one which Deiterriel will wear at all times. Should it come off, it would result in the death of her, and Deiterriel. That is all.."
