Northen star
chapter one
*BUMP* Kittys eyes flashed open at the noise. They blazed gold in the darkness, alert. This pair of alert eyes began to dart round the room, searching for the source of the mysterious bump. A muffled whirr errupted from her closet and her pointed ears pricked up. The thirteen year old reluctantly heaved herself out of bed and slipped into her velvet gown and comedy rabbit slippers. She lostened out for more noises, but all she could hear was the muffled thumps of her slippers.
She approached her closet, eyebrow arched skywards as she mocked herself. "Honestly Kits, your to old to have monsters in your closet!" Her voice swelled into the room as her delicate hand reached for the gold intwined handle. She let a small gasp slip as she felt the gold emblem apon the handle. It was hot, to hot. She redrew her hand to find a faint red mark of a burn etched across her hand. "Crud" was all she could say, still slightly shocked.
She Shook her heard and recovered from her breakdown. She was going crazy, letting her imagination run wild. Once more, this time determinded not to be deteriorated, she reached for the handle and pulled. Her jaw dropped at her own closets contents. Something she was sure she'd never put in there was now, well, in there. A rounded sphere of silk has nestled itself among her shoes. Shaking, she reached out to touch it, but as she did so, the silk covering slipped off to reveal...
Her golden eyes were illuminated with glistening light. She should of turned away and hid under her duvet and to never speak of it again. Yet kitty, as sensible as she had convinced herself to be, was curious by nature. She gazed apon the now uncovered golden case lying on the floor. A sudden impulse made her reach down and unclip the little latch keeping the box shut. her black hair veiled the two off from the rest of the world, parting them. In her little world, Kitty opened the box.
Her head spun, she tried to look away from what was blinding her but she couldn't. The box contained a brilliant spark of light, glistening in its silky padding of gold. Kitty leaned in closer to the spark, breathing heavily. Suddenly, without warning, the spark jumped from its case towards Kitty. Another impulse made Kitty do exactly what she didnt want to do, she reached out and grabbed the spark and clung it again her chest.
A burning sensation began where the spark was, but it was amazing. Kitty felt as though her soul had been lit, everything became clearer. Her vision wavered, the burning juttered. It stopped. slowly, darkness creeped apon Kitty. Her head fell onto a fallen jumper, and then, everything went black.
Dr.crane's computer began flashing, lighting the room red. "Oh no, another false alarm" her thought sullenlly. He'd been asked to work over time because the spark had been close to being found numerous times, yet it never was. Instincts repelled everyone and everything from the spark. All this fuss...
He jetted across the room to the computer in his swivell chair (his swivell record was 21 full circles, he was the leader in their ship) and loaded the holographic screen. basic manuel opening, check data... he'd done it all before. He scanned the screen next to him then stopped dead in his tracks.
Thats... different, he thought. The heat levels had risen in the spark. Finally a beep sounded telling him the hologram had loaded. He gaped. No. impossible. uh...crud, he thought. He felt like he'd been tasered. There, in the hologram of the spark was a girl. Even worse, she had the box...OPEN?! It seemed impossible, most people ran away when they saw the thing. He watched imobilised as the girl leaned in. Oh well, her tryed to calm himself, the spark will teleport, its capable of escaping unwanted capture. He relaxed in his chair, laughing at his momentary panic.
His eyes were suddenly drawn to the hologram. Was that? no, the spark hadnt just moved. The girl leaned in closer, her eyes glinting. and then Dr. Crane spotted it, the purple glaze in her eye. Precisely at that moment, the spark leapt in the air, and, even worse, the girl reached out for it.
"NO!" Dr.crane cried. Her scrambled to grab his commuicater watch that he'd taken off earlier (one of the many rules he'd been breaking) and tried to contact HQ, all the while watching the girl. He groaned when he heard the 'Please hold' Message be emitted from his communicator. His eyes widened as he saw the girls chest glow. What? This could only happen if the spark had chosen its bearer. But the spark never chose anyone! He moaned at the unfairness of it. He was bound to be fired, or even worse outcasted.
The girl suddenly gasped and fell to the floor. This comfirmed it then, the girl had been chosen. Dr.cranes brain slowly started to work again. He knew what this meant, a great war could be triggered at galaxies fought for the great northen star. Even worse, this girl would be in more danger than she could imagine, and yet she would be so dangerous she could stop it all. Mark Crane sighed. He knew what he must do. He turned his teleporter on and reluctenly, programed the co-ordinants for the girl.
as the telopathic energy began to buzz, Dr crane noticed something bizzare. A young black haired lad was watching him from beneath a table. His Purple eyes widened when he realised he'd been spotted and he leapt up. when the teleporter was at sixty persent, the young boy sprinted to Dr.crane and grabbed his arm. The energy enwrapped him to and just before the pair were teleported into the young girls room, the boy (about the same age as the girl) spoke just one word. "Rex"
