I woke up the next morning to hear a head splitting alarm clock screaming at me to get out of bed. I really didn't want to go to school today, it was a Wednesday, I hate Wednesdays. I also had a history project due in a week and I haven't even started on it yet. It's a paper and power point on Ulysses S. Grant, some general in the Civil War. Mr. Lear was going to chew me out.
The next thing I knew, it was half an hour later,"Sweetie...get up! Your gonna be late for school!" My mom was tugging at my blanket, but I pulled it back over my head,"Five more minuets!" I mumbled through the mop of hair I had. Mom pulled the blanket off again, and tapped me on the leg,"Get up. I made pancakes."
So, I got up and stumbled towards my closet to pick out what I was going to wear. Then I did, as I said earlier, my ORDINARY, boring things I do every day. After I was ready, I walked into the dining room where there were steaming pancakes and cold orange juice on the table,"It's about time!" my younger sister, Bryn, said,"Thought you would never get up!"
"I wish." I answered gloomly as I sat down at the table. Mom was reading the newspaper, which we rarely get, my two other younger sisters, Kara and Kendra, were sitting in the living room reading a Doctor Seuss book, and dad was still in bed, we could hear his snoring in the other room.
"Hey, Cerridwen," mom began,"Take a look at this article in the paper, it's interesting." She handed me the paper. There was a picture of a box, a police box to be exact. I read the article.
Mystery Box
Around four-o'clock yesterday evening, a janitor who worked at Foothill Middle School, was cleaning the halls of the school,"I opened the broom closet, and there it was, this big blue box...I don't know how it got in there!" That is what Janitor Jenice Dallwell had to say about this startling discovery. This box appears to be locked, but officials will keep on trying to open this mysterious object.
A big, blue box? At my school!? Interesting. It is true though, how can it just magically appear in that closet? Jenice goes in there every day. "Your right mom," I said as I set the paper down on the table,"That is interesting."
Throughout the rest of the morning, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Everybody on the bus was talking about it. Everyone was eager to see the box, actually I was to. When I got off the bus at school, I looked around for it. Men were hauling it up on a trailer on the back of a truck. It was a big, blue box...literally. It was tall, with two doors and the words "Police Box" across the top. It looked like one of those old ones police used to use all the time years ago. Why would that be around here?
The men started to leave when this man came out of no where and was running to catch the truck. He had missed it and didn't look too happy. He had brown hair, and an old fashion coat on, looks like it's from World War 1...or 2. He turned his head towards me. That look on his face, it's as if he knew me. He walked off and disapeared as fast as he appeared.
"Hey," Katie said as I jumped at the sound of her voice,"Are you okay?"
"Um..." I actually wasn't sure. At this point I really didn't know,"...yeah."
