Kyle carried his brother to their house. Strangely, Connor let them both go. Kyle knew why. Connor thought it was a waste of time to do something about a kid. Kyle gritted his teeth angrily. He looked down at Talon, who was awake in his arms. He smiled at Talon who couldn't smile back. Kyle shook his head. He knew it was the end of Talon's emotions, but he couldn't bring himself to fully except it. He would stop at nothing to get back Talon's life, even if he had to take Talon's place as guardian.
"Kyle, why do still want me as a brother?" Talon asked suddenly. He stared unintentionally up at Kyle, who was about to cry. Kyle took a long breath to keep himself together. It all happened so fast neither Kyle nor Talon truly had time to soak it all in.
"Because Talon, You are the whole reason I came back. Well, that and I wanted to take care of something around here. I'm sorry about our fight...." Kyle said. He looked into Talon's strange eyes. They were creeping Kyle out somewhat, but he knew that somewhere his brother was still there. Whether or not he would be able to come out of hiding was another story.
"What fight?" Talon said. Kyle closed his eyes in hope. Hope that this would all be over soon. A small bit of hope that he wanted to hold onto for a long time.
"The one that happened so many years ago, Talon," Kyle tried to explain. He couldn't bare telling his brother the whole thing at that moment.
"Oh yeah, that one," Talon remembered. He forced a smile for his brother, who could see the last bit of emotion leave him. Talon had used up the last of his happiness on a smile for his brother. Kyle sighed.
"You know, you should have kept that. You shouldn't have used your happiness on something as useless as that," Kyle mumbled. He looked up ahead as they moved toward the house. Kyle didn't really think that way. He just didn't want to be selfish.
As soon as they got on the porch their mom came out. She was crying as she ran to hug her sons. She sobbed tremendously and couldn't hold her tears in.
"I thought You were dead, Talon!" She cried. She opened her eyes and looked at Kyle, "And I thought I would never see you, Kyle, again," Kyle rubbed his neck and turned away.
"Well, I guess Talon wasn't so lucky...." Kyle murmured solemnly. He looked at his mom again with his sad face. She looked down at her youngest son.
"What happened to him? Please tell me!" Kyle and Talon's mom asked. She suddenly was extremely nervous.
"He was changed into a guardian. No emotion left now. I'm so sorry mom, but he was going to die!" Kyle exclaimed. A small tear fell from his cheek.
"No! Why? How?" Their mom asked anxiously. She shook her head in disbelief.
"I saved him from a bomb. I'm sorry. I should have left it..." Kyle explained. He looked down at the ground in his own disappointment.
"Well kyle, I guess it's better than having him dead, but I just can't believe this," Their mom said. Kyle looked up with a wide grin.
"I think I have a plan on how to get him back now!" Kyle announced proudly.
